Table Cell: Extend text beyond cell border

Is there a way to keep text in a cell from wrapping, but rather have it extend to the right, outside of the column width. Excel can do it.

Note I do NOT want to increase the column width and I do NOT want to merge cells. I want the text to extend beyond the column width.

      Thanks for any info.

Nope, InDesign’s tables don’t work that way.

Excel only does this when the following column cell is empty, otherwise the text extra hides until you click on it.
So it only does what you state in a certain circumstance.
Most people would just have the text wrap or you are back to merging cells.

You can just type the text in a text frame and paste it over the cell in the table…

Thanks, but I’m dealing with a massive Excel file. 119 columns by 420 rows. The cells I’m talking about are row dividers that cross the remaining 118 empty column cells.
