MemberHave you tried printing directly from Indesign?

MemberThats an interesting variation on the “why is my pasteboard so big” effect.

MemberA zerok pdf file is produced and never finished, the background task hangs and won't let ID quit (it's been documented here before but I can't seem to find it when I search).

MemberThanks David, yeah I should try their demo out. We may have a job that needs pages produced in Word for teachers resources, so it could be exactly what we need. I was hoping it was the thing we needed.

MemberThanks for the info. Suffice to say the silence on this subject speaks volumes. It's a pity as it was on this site that I heard about it.

MemberIf there is no communication then the person responsible for the outcome should be the broker, or the client not the designer/artworker.
Tim Hughes
MemberNot talking to the printer sounds like a bad idea if you are to be responsible for the outcome.
Tim Hughes
MemberThe printer would be best to ask about colour profiles. We mostly use FOGRA 39 or a profile based on that.

MemberI would advise you to talk to your print supplier as it is they who will be doing the print and finish, they will tell you exactly what they need from you.

MemberI would say to use the book function, it'll mean you can leave the parts separate but still manage it like one big document with Book.

MemberUse the book function, from a workflow point of view I would consider it foolhardy to do this as one document whether in Quark or Indesign. Do it as sepearate parts and manage it with the book function.

MemberSounds like rather than software skills it is time to look at this as a design issue. You refer to the baseline but setting that comes from you deciding what the leading is going to be. I could put forward 10pt type on 13pt leading as a good example, but here google is your friend, look up leading and type size, and I suggest some extra reading on grids and book design.
Cheers and I trust you enjoy the world of type design.

MemberPlease tell us what “few people see”.
I still consider what you have done by hand to one page, to be possible in the print settings.
Tim Hughes
MemberYou need to include the slug area.
