Thanks, but there is no divide in the panel and I played around with all the others. I should have mentioned I’m on CS6 — newer versions may have divide.
AHHHH! I found it! It’s those little hierarchy looking boxes. Working with Indd for years and I have never realized what those symbols were for.
This works perfectly. I can adjust my frame to fit, then align to remake my grid.

Thank you Kai, but I’m having trouble with step 3. Where in the control panel do I choose and select “content”? I neglected to mention I am using CS6.
I think I just figured it out. Duh. If I have the object selected when editing the gradient swatch, it reverts to 0 degrees. But if nothing is selected, it just changes the color, keeping my custom angle. Silly me!
