Here’s the solution I came up with (no thanks to Adobe):

To insert a single page into the middle of a document:

    1. Go to Pages.

    2. Keep “Allow Document Pages to Shuffle” checked. Keep “Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle” checked as well.

    3. Highlight all of the pages you do not want affected.
(i.e. if you want to insert a single page after Page 5, highlight 6 thru to end of document).

    4. Select “Apply Master to Pages…” , then select “None.”
This will remove the Master settings and allow you to do whatever you want.

    5. Insert your single page (“Master” or “None”).
The rest of the document pages will move forward one page, CLEANLY, with no unwanted additions.
If you have Automatic Page Numbering on the subsequent pages, it remains unaffected. The pages will continue to be numbered correctly.

    6. If you repeat the process and re-apply Master A, all the content of Master A will appear on those pages, giving you back the muddle you wanted to avoid.

If someone has a cleaner solution, please post it.

Of course it’s a flaw in InDesign!

If it worked properly, Pailin and others like myself wouldn’t have this question. (Which wasn’t answered adequately.)

Here’s what makes sense: once I have opted to over-ride a Master page, a Master page doesn’t annoyingly reappear just because I want to move a page.
There are many times when I need to move or delete just a single page within a booklet. In Quark, I can move single or multiple pages without grief.

Please inform us how we can move or delete a single page.
