I tried what was suggested but unfortunately I didn't see that fix the problem. However, I did fix the problem, although I do not fully understand why… I had my document set to spreads and when I changed it to single pages, the problem fixed itself. I am posting new screen captures that show this.

here are two screen captures showing the text threads and that I have turned the document into single pages instead of spreads and for some unknown reason to me, that has solved this problem…
