but that is my point, in the notes panel the text is 5pt and I can't read them. Story editor is not a solution for the work that I'm doing since I'm doing complicated Hebrew typography with cantillation marks and the notes are telling me that I need to move something closer or further away so to keep changing from one view to the other won't work. Also the notes are in English and the text is in Hebrew and I need the special font for the cantillation marks which means I can't read the notes in English in Story Editor.

Why can't I simply change the font and size of the text of the Notes panel?

    Windows Vista
Open a command shell with Administrator Privileges by right clicking the
cmd.exe application and choosing to Run As Administrator.
Navigate to the Program Files (x86)CommonAdobeShell folder. Type the
name of the .bat file, ” Register64BitIcons.bat” (without quotations)
    and press Enter

I would definately prep in Word. Then I would typeset in InDesign but not sure why you would only use a Mac. InDesign works very well on a PC. Of course you should only use OpenType so that you can be crossplatform in case you decide to switch between Win7 and Snow Leopard, but in terms of Word it's irrelevant. You don't need to be using the same font in Word that you are using in InDesign.
