Membersince you’ve been using indd-cs5.5 all along … the problem is not the software. do you retain copies of your past files used … say, on disk or other removable media? then you’d be able to go back to a file which allowed you the conversion … compare with your latest file … see where the difference lies.

Memberthis is just a thought … i believe adobe allows for two users/computers on one license. create a second user on your computer … one user for farsi-projects (right-left) … one user for traditional (left-right) workload.

Membermight find some relevant info with links at this url:
https://org.uib.no/smi/ksv/ArabicFonts.html
https://org.uib.no/smi/ksv/arabicfontsc.htmlas with any project, make sure the pdf-files and soft/hard-proofs respect those fonts accurately.

Memberthanks for your previous two *.indd screencaps.
what is your os-vers/indd-vers/acrobat-vers/pitstop*-vers?os:
in document-folder … compare date/time of *.indd file with pdf file … maybe the *.indd file they sent is not specific to the *.pdf they sent.
did you install the fonts … or using font-manager? if font-manager, check to make sure each sub-family is activated. in supplied font-folder … are any of the fonts showing as “zero” bytes or corrupt(icon)?acrobat:
the supplied *.pdf … open it and go directly to “menu/file/properties” … click the “fonts” tab … all fonts used in document should be listed … including sub-sets and sub-families. compare the fonts packaged with the fonts in the properties list.open the supplied *.pdf file … with acrobat’s text-tool, highlight a chinese character that is displaying correctly … now click the text while holding down CTRL key … choose “edit” text … interface appears … showing which font was used. do same for the character which is not displaying correctly in *.indd file. compare.
pitstop:
pitstop is very specific to font-names … appearing in the font-tab of the inspector. click a chinese character that is displaying correctly … open up inspector to the fonts-tab … take screencap. now, click a chinese character that is not displaying correctly … open up inspector to the fonts-tab … take screencap. compare.open *.indd file with NO fonts loaded … take screencap of the fonts missing in find-font interface.
open *.indd file with ALL supplied fonts loaded … take screencap of the fonts missing in find-font interface.
compare.
export to *.pdf the *.indd file with ALL fonts loaded (yes, even pink-eyes) … compare with *.pdf file customer supplied.indesign:
open *.indd file and place/drag cursor to highlight one pink-eye character … analyze compare with a visible font that displays correctly … analyzer/compare with “space” character. look at all different interfaces … main, character, character-styles, open-type sub-formats, etc.*pitstop is a plugin by enfocus.

Memberindesign ran fine a month ago? meaning windows updates installed since that time? is windows trying to install win-10? inspected task-manager to see which process is hogging all the cpu? checked installation manager to see which programs installed/updated since the time indesign ran decently? tried system-restore? scanned for malware? tried uninstalling/reinstalling indesign?

Memberused google’s search filter … “indesign cs6 document for kindle”
first hit was amazon offering a kindle plugin.
fifth hit was coverage via zdnet … apparently referring to the same plugin.
i am not here to promote amazon … nor have i tested the plugin.
up to you to do the research … but we’d be happy to hear how you resolved your issue.pnamajck
Memberhey there, jake … really appreciate your in-depth approach … guessing you have tried all sorts of ways to work with the pi-symbol.
fwiw … there’s other software(preps) that i am exposed to everyday. that software allows me to create rectangle but not to create circle. same as indesign, it allows for the operands within the element’s field to adjust. and, to be fair, i utilize this feature throughout my day.
just thought it was worth a try, jake. and, if anyone else comes along … perhaps the knowledge will help them as well.
thanks again … mahalo.

MemberAri-S. …
just looking around here at https://creativepro.com and came across your inquiry. noticed you avidly helping others … thought i’d suggest for you to read pg80- in adobe’s indesign-cs6-javascript-scripting-guide.pdf file … located at https://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/indesign/sdk/cs6/scripting/InDesign_ScriptingGuide_JS.pdf
again … not sure if it will help or not, Ari-S. … as it simply utilizes js’s “duplicate” method.
as for myself … have interest but have not promoted that interest any further. peace out.

Membertransparency-grid … huh? you talking about viewing your *.indd file or the resultant *.pdf file?
i know of a baseline-grid as well as a document-grid … neither supports transparency behavior. or are you talking about layer rather than grid? or perhaps “object-effects”(transparency filter)? there is also display-preference transparency (prefs/display-perf). maybe you hit the shift-w key instead of shift-d key (view/screen-mode)?
perhaps you could post an image to photobucket and refer appropriate link? take one snapshot of what should look like … and second image of the problematic issue?
fwiw … might also be helpful knowing the version of indesign you are using?

Memberi haven’t had the pleasure of working much within the win-7 environment … but seems there is a world of hurt out there when it comes to postscript-fonts and win-7. have a read for yourself, gabor … perhaps some insight may come for you:

Memberdwayne … ‘ppreciate your interest in this matter … and, veritably, can see your point of view. i have, since, promoted a suggestion for adobe to consider in future releases. am also including link to web-based image … this is for others who might have similar interest toward future commerce.
