Petar PetrenkoParticipantI set Word to save my documents as .RTF instead of .DOCX. This solved 2 problems:
1. Even older versions of Word (before version 2007) can open it and
2. No more problems with InDesign import.DOCX plug-in in InDesign doesn’t work properly. For example, some footnotes are not imported correctly, or not at all.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantAre the hyperlinks OK in Word?
Are they formatted with character style in Word?
Do they need to be active in InDesign?April 8, 2025 at 8:02 am in reply to: how to auto fit and scale background for book spine? #14413649

Petar PetrenkoParticipantStep by step:
1. Create new document with 3 facing pages;
2. In the hamburger menu on the pages panel deselect ‘Allow Document Pages to Shuffle’;
3. Move the 1st page to snap with the other two to form the cover pages;
4. Select the ‘Page Tool’ (3rd from the top);
5. Select the spine page;
6. Set the left and right margins to 0 (or any other small value);
7. Now resize the width of the spine and the right most page (the front page) will snap to the spine.April 8, 2025 at 6:57 am in reply to: how to auto fit and scale background for book spine? #14413642
Petar PetrenkoParticipantAnd that would be better if you create with ‘facing pages’ for easier control of the spine.

Petar PetrenkoParticipantCan you upload a screenshot or maybe the file to see what is going on?
Petar PetrenkoParticipantIn that case, I use top and bottom margins slightly bigger throughout the book.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantYou should use ‘left indent’ and ‘right indent’.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantTry to avoid empty lines and start using ‘space before’ and ‘space after’, instead.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantIf you have Quite Imposing Plus plug-in for Acrobat, you can do it very easily and quickly.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantIn “Preferences > Autocorrect” click “Add” and type “^^%” as “Misspelled word” and in “Correction” type what you want to appear.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantOnly in font editing apps.
Petar PetrenkoParticipantJust modify any letter to suite your needs, or you can replace it with any existing character inside the font if it is in a different location.
