ParticipantI’ve simplified the Grep:
\w{1,2}[\)|\.]\w+
so that rather than doing 2 searches for a ‘)’ or a ‘.’ it looks for one or the other [\)|\.]

ParticipantIf you want it to work for letters and numbers switch the \d with \w at the front: (the 1,2 checks for numbers with 1 or 2 numbers i.e. 1 or 12 and if you need to cover 3 digit numbers change 1,2 to 1,3)
\w{1,2}\)\w+|\w{1,2}\.\w+

ParticipantTry:
\d{1,2}\)\w+|\d{1,2}\.\w+
Note the brackets around 1,2 should be the curly ones:

ParticipantThanks David,
I will check the video out shortly to see if I can see what it is that’s causing the problem :)

Participant…what I should have asked was..can you design your layout first before doing a data merge? :)
Paul Williams
ParticipantHi David,
I do have the tags on the master page as you said.
The reason I didn’t want to create a new merged document was the because of the limited layout options.
I made the merged one and then moved the boxes around on the page to where I wanted them – I assume I had to do this as didn’t think you could merge data into a pre-defined layout i.e just boxes around the edge of the page etc.
:)

ParticipantYou will never get the printed version to look like your monitor simply because every printer will give a different result dependent on make, ink levels, age of printer, wear and tear on printer, type or quality of paper etc. etc.
You can try adjusting the levels of the image and also tweak with the Sharpen/unsharp mask.
Pretty much a matter of trial and error to get near what you think is acceptable.

ParticipantThanks Ari :)

ParticipantThanks again Masood :)

ParticipantI thought that was the case and I did try that – it also worked:)
Because I am using this in a script does it need to have t rather than or is that not necessary?
Many thanks :)

ParticipantHi Kai,
Ignore previous – I realised that I needed to double up on ie ^.+?\KDiesel to ^.+?KDiesel.
So I needed to escape it with K
But again, many thanks for your help :)

ParticipantHi Kai,
Thanks for this, but I have a problem.
I can get this to work fine in the Find/Change box in indesign but can’t get it to function when I use it in a script environment.
Any ideas as to why this maybe?
Thanking in you in advance of your plethora of knowledge :)
