MemberI used to work in points/picas before computers, no it’s inches. I do have my numbers lined up with the text below. On almost every page there is a (ELGIN con’t} continuation line with the page number above it. So if I just make sure there is 1/4″ from the top and sides I’m good.

MemberI just had 5 epubs created in a fixed format with interactive index and hyperlinks. These books had a total of 7800 pictures. They came out great and very reasonably priced, under $1000. The version of InDesign i have is not capable of making ebooks.

MemberI feel for you. I took over a book that was setup maybe 8 years ago by people in India. If I do one return or shorten one box I can lose 4-5 pages of text. I’ll wait for an answer on this one too.

MemberOur distributor, Ingram books, will do that conversion for us. I was worried it couldn’t be done after they were made interactive.
Thanks so much for your help.Michele Jarosz
MemberWe had no problem with the interactive .pdf files as far as the index goes. We kept the page numbers the same as the original book resulting in each ebooks index pages only being active for that particular section of the book. I.E. page 321 went to page 321 if it was part of that ebook. We included the entire index in each ebook. Can an interactive pdf be converted to an epub?

MemberAbsolutely, just drag it in. or place it using file/place or command D

MemberThat’s what I thought but a colleague of mine who works in Quark insisted it could be done.
Thanks for clarifyingMichele Jarosz
MemberI used to work in Pagemaker which was InDesigns predecessor,I rarely did a merge in that program but if I did I would print the other side of the cards first (I suppose I should say I worked in a copy center/print shop) and then put them back in the copier to print the address side. I found Pagemaker to be inefficient with merges. I used to use Word or Publisher although not professional programs they worked much better.

MemberI kind of came into graphic sideways too. But why are you working on the pasteboard? Seems like a waste of time. Why not just work in the actual template of what you are producing. You can always save it as something else like “Sample”. I find if I make a .pdf of the thing I get a better idea of how it’s going to look as the finished products i.e. scale, color, layout, etc.

MemberI have also had this problem and using a white box usually works. But my black blotch keeps moving. I finally had to change the background. I’m anxious to see what people come up with for your problem.

MemberI don’t know what that means. Screen fonts/printer fonts?
I haven’t touched anything since I took over this computer and job a year ago.

MemberI know nothing about this–but I would probably do it the hard way and drop dead.
