ParticipantYeap! … Using The Force! … But Reserved to Jedis! ;-)
Of course, A scripter could write a script allowing you to choose a folder with ID files to be treated, opening each file, file per file, turning on “automatic page numbering”, saving and closing each file and telling you at the end: “Hasta la vista, Baby! …”
Your only work would be 1 click on the script name in the ID script panel! And even if I prefer the Jedi’s way! … more … poetic! … I’ve such a script [not for free!] — If more infos, contact me: obiwankenobiearth@gmail.com

ParticipantHi,
A funny matter not fixed since 2015! … ;-)
How import files into ID as you want? … By name, creation or modification date, file weight or type, in an alphabetical order or reversed … even randomly! …
Simply by script! ;-)
Comments on screenshots [34-files test]:
1/ Basic importation into ID: alphabetical order.
2/ Finder files folder.
3/ You launch the Script! It asks you what files to be imported [as ID basic importation].
4/ [If no open doc or no chosen file(s), the Script stops!] After having selected files to be imported, the Script asks you, via its UI, what kind of sorting you would like to run! [by default, “by Name” is checked].
5-10/ Results of the Script importation:
5/ by Name, reversed order
6/ by Creation Date
7/ by File Weight
8/ Random – try 1
9/ Random – try 2
10/ Random – try 3
Of course, the 3 “random” results are different!!!! =D

… When it’s about scripting, everybody knows now personally not for free! If interested by this script, PM me [michel.allio@fridnge.com]!

ParticipantDavid, it’s not a short reply! ;-)
It means the op could make more researches about the use of “Headers” in an ID layout! … and so make some researches about “Variables”!
I’m always surprised to see people use a software by ignoring so many things that can be spotted in the “Menus” of the soft!!!
My granny always said to me: “La curiosité est un vilain défaut! … ” and me to answer: “… Mais pas les pruneaux!” [ to make a french rhyme! =D ]
… But, well, it’s just a personal feeling !!

Participant… When I wrote: “So simple! …”, I didn’t say: “Simplistic! …”
What about variables use? ;-)

ParticipantHi,
Take a look to this video!
The captions use metadata played as variables!
The op needed to create a list [TOC] of the captions!
The result was a “nice mess” [ID bug]!So, I’ve taken the bug and sit on it! …
The captions are always “dynamic” [variable links]!
In your case, you just need a small script! … [Not for free!]

ParticipantHi Bryan,
What you simply want is just move outward on odd/even pages the contents of each page! … an eighth of inch!
Right!? ;-)

ParticipantHi,
Basing on this list aand just don’t forget to have a carriage-return at the end of the List:
Find:
((January|February|March|April|May|June|July|August|September|October|November|December)\r)((\d+(,?)?)+\r)\1((?3))Replace1:
$1$3
to get the first date, not the secondReplace2:
$1$6
to get the second date, not the first(^/)
Note “,?” takes in account typing errors in days (no space after some commas)!
