February 22, 2022 at 8:41 am in reply to: Some pages don’t have a preview in Adobe Bridge, just show InDesign icons?! #14358949

MemberHi David,
David, this new question I wrote here is similar to those questions, but it’s different and I’ll explain it clearer, but yes; you right, those two questions you mentioned and post their links, are repetitive and we talked about them and I confessed in the second one (newer one) that I asked it more than once in the older time; because I didn’t search the forum before asking for the second one, and I apologized for that! Maybe one of those should be deleted by a moderator.
The old question was about the showing number of pages of a file that has more than 2 pages (for example 20 pages), but just I could see the first two-pages, not the rest pages in the “Preview tab” and its setting in the Edit > Preferences > File Handling path that Eugene taught me and Steve Werner article described in detail.
But this question I asked here; is about previews of .INDD files in the “Content” window (central window); not the “Preview” window (mini Bridge), and instead of previewing the first page as a default in this window, just show InDesign app icon for some of them. (in my case 16 of 280 .INDDs).
I saved my document after I asked here and now I open the book file and check out the.INDDs files in the Bridge, they’re okay and all of them have their preview in the “Content window”. I’ve experienced this small issue a few times and I don’t know what it caused and why they were fixed after I save them and closed ID and Adobe Bridge?!
I didn’t modify and touch the ” File Handling” section, just as I said in the first, I moved some files in the book panel and re-numbered again from the pop-up menu of the book panel, and produce this issue. Also, those 16 .INDD files lost their label (the label I named “Almost complete”) and they got an “unknown” name label and I had to give the original label to them again, but this work didn’t fix their preview in the “Content” window until I saved everything and close ID and the Bridge and now everything is fine with preview!
Best,

MemberI found out what option I missed in the process to see bigger thumbnails and all pages in the Bridge’s Preview Window. After changing the settings in the “File Handling” of Adobe InDesign’s preferences, it needs to click the “Synchronize Book” feature from the “Book” panel pop-up menu. Then close the book panel, reopen Bridge. All pages in Preview Window counter are there!

MemberDavid, I apologize for the repetitive post and question, the questioner of the old post was me! long time and I forgot I asked it once here and I should have searched here to not ask again, sorry for that. Although in the old post; I satisfied with the answer and fixed my preview problem, but this time; I change the setting in InDesign as Eugene told, but didn’t get answer, and Adobe Bridge still shows just two-first pages in its Preview Window! Because of my weak hardware, I waited to see any things happen or not, but nothing happened. I have no clue why this time, doesn’t work for me.

MemberYes, round corners work well and the result better than before (default corners), but It’s still the bottom side of the image (in rectangularly form) shows the inverted word. In this situation, we can duplicate the type on a path and flip the words (need to delete the words on top, right and left sides and keep the words in the bottom side) on the second path and put behind the first path. This is a little complex and time-wasting job to get a nice result, especially to work on many images. Thanks, Graham

MemberType on a Path Tool is a cool tool, but the result is not perfect and great for it. For example, I type and copy a word or a short phrase by it around an image, the repetitive words in the bottom line of an image is inverted ones and can’t read or recognize easily what they are and seems bad.
Also, I checked out “Type on a Path Options” and manipulated the features, but didn’t answer as I wish.
Another thing is corners when words meet each other in corners of an image. Their letters break and separate badly, and doesn’t give us a clean, without break of letters.October 26, 2016 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Select All Unused and the color I can't find and see in my spread!? #89331Masoud Moghaddam

MemberI’m sure I set password for Opening section, not editing and printing section. Of course I know some useful encryption software or making a ZIP/RAR file (As David mentioned it in this post). I don’t work for any secret organization. I live in Iran and I don’t think FBI doesn’t’ like to recruit an Iranian as its personnel to hidden and protect their thrilling and secret files inside InDesign.:D

Member@Dear Oleh
I tried it and I found interesting thing. When I open the .indd file including the my protected pdf file, InDesign asks me to type/insert the password, in second time I choose “Cancel” button to see what happen and how InDesign reaction to select the “Cancel” button, but the file was opened!?!. I can see the the almost blur layout of everything in my layout. if I choose Zoom (Z) tool and click over the protected frames (the pdfs I placed) their contents were disappeared (the protected frames turn into grey color with a cross lines into it; exactly like you select “Fast Display” command (View > Display Performance > Fast Display).
If value zoom is set to 75% or higher; nothing shows, but less than 74% everything appears and this is thing I don’t like.
Also I select Preferences > Grids > “View Threshold” drop-down menu and changed the value to lowest number that InDesign accepts (5%), but it doesn’t work and everything shows in 74% zoom set again and again?!
Why I choose “Cancel” button; InDesign open the protected file?October 25, 2014 at 2:22 am in reply to: How to set a password on InDesign files for OPENING the INDDs? #71242Masoud Moghaddam
MemberThank you so much Eric for this wonderful plugin. I’ll try it
October 10, 2014 at 1:43 am in reply to: How to set "Sentence case" feature in Character Styles or Paragraph Styles? #70957Masoud Moghaddam
MemberDavid; Firstly I apologize for a bit mistake, My mean “Title case” and I mistook it with “Sentence case” because I have words that they should change their first letter to “Capitalize”, Anyhow this command like “Sentences case” absents in “Character Styles” or “Paragraph Styles”.
I follow your suggestion and assign a shortcut for “Title case” and when I select my word and use my customized shortcut nothing happens and the first my words still in lowercase form not Capital!?!.When I choose “Selection Tool (V)” and select my text frame only; my customized shortcut appears in front of the “Title case” pop-up menu (Type > Change case > Title case),but when I switch to “Type Tool” and select a text nothing show in front of the “Title case” command in above path??!. This is the first time I face to this problem about customized shortcut and previously I assigned and use my shortcuts without problem like this.
Do you know why the shortcut is disappear when I select a text and it come back when I select the text frame only? I confused.P.S. Dear David; I couldn’t find edit button in this page to edit my question and correct “Sentence case” to “Title case” would you please to edit it?
Thank you
August 15, 2014 at 10:01 am in reply to: Insert separator by using “TOC” dialogue box instead of using “Tabs” panel. #70132Masoud Moghaddam
MemberSorry, I thought you mention to two drop-down menus in front of “Page Number” and “Between Entry and Number” features (I meant Styles drop-down menus). Yes, sure sure that New Paragraph Style is exist in “Entry Style” drop-down menu. Fortunately I’ve fixed it now (I’m happy). I should set leader and tab to my “entry” style which I define to my entries (in Paragraph Styles), but I imagine I should make a paragraph style for separator separately.
Thanks Thompson.

MemberThomson, you right. I think about it; but as you know we just define tabs/leader in “Paragraph Styles” not in “Character Styles” and in the middle options on the TOC dialog box just accepts a style that define in “Character Styles” not “Paragraph Styles”.

MemberFix it! Simple and nice. Thanks Eugene. I didn’t mention to it. Thanks David for that comprehensive article.
