Participantha ha ha…
Well, I’ll call this cheating. Homework should be done by the person himself rather than assigning a third party to do it on his behalf.
@Charlotte, no offense! you should have guided him instead of explaining it in details through snapshot. Let him learn :)@John, in my opinion and as per my personal experience… the best instructor for a person is a person himself. We learn by hit and trials, and when you learn by yourself, you get the things in your brain for your lifetime.
:) this tutorial would have made you a star in your class… really?
AND don’t forgot that we’re a community who are ready to resolve your problems at any hour of the day. But not the homework :)
no hard feelings, just for the learning…
PS: This is going to be the funniest thread of all time.

ParticipantFirstly, I didn’t understand what exactly is your requirement. Please elaborate a little more.
Secondly, check these if they work for you:

ParticipantHi Amit,
As you know InDesign’s Text Variables are limited. I would suggest to use Power Headers from in-tools.com. Though I haven’t tried it, but I have heard it is good.
Meanwhile, I’ll try to figure out some quick ways.
Masood Ahmad
ParticipantEither way you can try this as well:
GREP Find/Change:
Find What:(\u)(\.)+?
Change to:$1I see that the acronyms in your text are all uppercase. If yes, then give it a try…

ParticipantGlad that helped :)
Things that look simple are not at all simple and the complex are not complex in real scenario!
Sometimes the simplest problem have taken away my sleeps.

ParticipantHi Elisabeth, what I have understood is that you want to replace all the Double Straight Quotation Marks to Left/Right Double Quotation Marks…
I think this can easily be achieved.
First go to the “InDesign Preferences >> Type” and Check On the “Use Typographer’s Quotes”
Then run the GREP find/change:
GREP Find/Change:
Find What:~"
Change to::"Find: Any Straight Double Quotation Marks
Change: Double Quotation Marks (“), [Shift+’ >> the key next to the Return]Let InDesign decide whether it is going to be a Left or Right Mark.
I hope that solves your mystery.

ParticipantHi Steve,
Is it mandatory to use GREP in this scenario. This can simply be done using using the Nested Styles and you won’t have to run Find/Change every time.
I hope you have the Paragraph Styles already in place. Just tweak the associated para style, something like this:
Nested Styles:
CharacterStyleForTheTextBeforePipeSignup to1|Please let me know if it works.

ParticipantThat’s great.
You can start your GREP journey here at IS: https://creativepro.com/resources/grep
Apart from this, there are many members who voluntarily share their experiences and are ready to provide any possible combinations of code here at InDesign Secrets. Please feel free to raise your queries…

ParticipantTry this:
GREP Find/Change:
Find What:(^\d{1,2}.+)\r(^[\u].+)
Change to::$2\r$1March 17, 2017 at 4:01 am in reply to: Script to swap around the order of certain paragraph styles? #92907Masood Ahmad
ParticipantHi Matt,
It would be more convenient if you could supply the peculiarities for each of those two paragraph. That can then be used in the GREP search.
However, if the lines begin with Name and Date as text, then you can use the below code to find and change and then swap it around.
GREP Find/Change:
Find What:(^Date.+)\r(^Name.+)
Change to::$2\r$1Hope you got some idea!

ParticipantHi Aziz,
While I was searching for something, I realized you didn’t got a response on this:
Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\versionanguage\Caches\InDesign Recovery\Windows Vista or Windows 7:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\versionanguage\Caches\InDesign Recovery\For more info:

ParticipantThanks Kai for looking into this but my company is not ready to pay for that little love. Instead they will ask the team to do it manually.
Tough :( but that’s the last option I see.

ParticipantTry saving the Word Files from .docx to .doc or vice-versa, then import it again in InDesign. I hope it will work.
Masood Ahmad
ParticipantThanks Anne, I’ll try that out. But I’m not sure it will be done that way.
Anyways, I have posted the question on the Adobe forum. Let’s see what I’ll get:
