    And thanks to David, who also let me know how to renew the preferences file. It was easy and seemed to work. Chad, thanks for replying too, though thankfully in my case rebooting the preferences has seemed to work. Cheers guys!

    I am new to Indesign being a Quark user for 20 odd years. I just installed Indesign C£6 from a Mastersuite disk having upped my RAM to 20GB on a 2 year old Imac. It worked for a couple of days, albeit with regular quits, but now I have the same problem as above ie quitting on startup saying that Indesign has stopped unexpectedly. I have restarted which didn’t help, and was about to reinstall but think I should ditch preferences first – where do I find the right file? A Spotlight search showed up several. What am I looking for and where please?
