MemberNevermind… I think I figured it out. CTRL + Click on a PC while dragging to the library panel did the trick!

MemberHow do you add an INDD text object as a graphic?
Marc Dunker
MemberWhen you place the file (ctrl/cmd + D), check the box “Show Import Options” to bring up settings including formatting.
What I do is then create paragraph/character styles to my liking then delete Word’s formatting. When doing this, INDD will open a box asking what style I’d like to replace it with, and it will change to the new style.

MemberYes. Very annoying. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to apply strokes to the inside in 18 years!

MemberThanks as always David! I was incorrect in that I did already set up object styles with shortcuts to update each page quickly. I was hoping there would be some sort of hidden feature to get a page to conform to the text frame on the master. While mine was only 24 pages, I’d hate to see what it would be like with hundreds of pages!
I do try to layout documents with margins that aren’t affected by a Left/Right page, but sometimes it’s not an option.
I was also looking into batch master applying. Is that possible? I saw in the settings that you could apply to multiple pages, but it appeared to be manual. Even a dropdown of Even/Odd pages would be helpful in that regard opposed to manually entering each page…

MemberThanks David! It’s confusing when multiple sites had different definitions and flipping the definition between a widow and orphan. Those were just three examples.

MemberI always love finding new features in Adobe software, but I’m a curious and knowledge hungry person.
For example, I used to not know what GREP styles were years ago—so I decided to do a search. Now not only do I use Regular Expressions for GREP styles, but also in PDF form scripting and web development.
Thanks for the link, David!

MemberI opened your file and did not experience your issue. I used Acrobat Pro DC. May I ask what pdf editor/reader you have?
I will say, however, the text frames are kind of in the center of the line. You may consider moving the text fields up as the baseline of the text in the fields are too close to the line.

MemberI ended up solving this issue:
In the Control Panel flyout menu, there’s an option to redefine scaling at 100%. David Blatner’s fix to remove text size parenthesis led me to this answer! Thanks David!

MemberUpdate: This issue is also with the font size.
I’ve tried re-creating the alternate layout with every liquid rule possible, un-checking every box in the alt. layout options, etc. As suspected, scale is the only one that creates a decent alternate layout, but nothing I’ve done gives me proper sizing.
Interestingly, the font size shows 44pt(12.1) in the control, property, and character panels…

MemberI’ve had this issue several times. In the current document I’m working on, it does exactly as Tyler describes.
The culprit for me is footnotes. If I remove footnotes, I can type normally. Other forums listed having issues when typing it text boxes with columns, auto-height/width, a mixture of styles that span/don’t span columns, etc.
Another suggested workaround was to change preferences in Advanced Type > Type Contextual Controls and turn it off.
Turning off preflight might help. Another user said they could type normally if they turned off the control panel.
For my issue, simply removing footnotes did the trick.

MemberIs it true that if you’ve used the Object > Interactive > Set Tab Order in a document, using Articles for tab order won’t work?
