MemberLarge tables – hell, medium tables, anything over three or four pages – make ID lug no matter what tricks one uses. Has been the case since tables were added to app.; still the case with CS5. Right-clicking when working with large tables will freeze the app. For large tables, I use tabs and paragraph styles. Much more efficient. For greater efficiency, can be exported to tab-delimited text, styled and massaged using BBEdit and GREP.

MemberI switch from one OS to another all the time; it takes a while to get used to it, though. I've found on Windows machines that using the Alt + numeric keypad sequences for some commonly typed characters is easier because they work beyond Adobe's products. There's a useful list at <https://tinyurl.com/oe4d>.

Is there more than one book file? When the subeditors open a chapter 'from the book', are they using a book file on a server?
I work with books a lot but have no sub-editors. Occasionally, I see the warning you describe. Since the warning applies to the book file only, wisely or not, I ignore it. The book file seems to have become very fussy in ID CS3 and CS4.
