    By the way, regarding my above query, empty character space create problem only when I have Align to decimal Tab. When I convert decimel tab into any justified tabs, empty character space poses no problem.

    Thanks a lot for giving me some direction. By the way when I copy and paste from Excel, I'm finding lot of empty character spaces between tabs which I have to painfully remove to make the tab setting to work. Any quick way of removing them all in one go? I have loads of excel files to work with – which get updated too.

    I have already created a paragraph style which I was trying to apply to the new tabbed text….. in the second tab, the last number in different rows with no “)” is not getting aligned with number before “)”…. Hope I'm clear :)
