Good grief, just imagine they were not! To hide some stuff you'd need to deselect the layer on each page, one at a time.
Maybe I should lay out my document differently. In my case I've got a first page, a cover essentially, that has no repeating elements no master pages attached to it, so does my TOC for that matter. Just for tidiness sake I'd like to be able not to have them in the layers panel when I'm working on other pages. No biggie though, I can tough it out. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah that's all I was trying to do, unclutter the layers pallet a bit. I'll get used to it I'm sure. Thanks for the reply.
