You are a lifesaver Brian! Thank you.
Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a way to get Indesign to RECOGNiZE the word document sections. The footnotes are correct in the word document (starting over at 1 for each chapter) but why doesn’t Indesign recognize those sections?
thanks!
I keep wanting to ask this question as well. Sometimes the chapter titles are all caps but we need the running heads to be title case.
Up to now I’ve made a separate master page to accomplish this. Uggg.
When I had this happen it was something from word doc or copying and pasting from internet. I delete paragraphs in and around it and started fresh with all new clean text. Just a thought… (not an expert :-)
Darn. Only other thought is font metrics (exact, exact same fonts)?
Typesetter here. Just a thought.
Is it possible that the original file had overrides that aren’t being “done” in the new file. If you stripped out all my overrides, my files would all flow differently. In other words, part of typesetting a book is using the kerning feature to make paragraphs fit.
Good luck!
Katherine
