Ward, you are correct. The find-order is sometimes or mostly (not everytime) the order of creation. There is no sort function for that in the UI. You are good to go, if you collect everything in an array and sort it.

in reply to: Can't get space below images in epub #103080

From the memory: If you set something to above line, you will get div > div > div > img. If you set something inline you get p > img (maybe one div more or less). If this is working for you, then this is working for you. However: If you use this InDesign-Standard-CSS, you can (!) have trouble sometimes …

in reply to: Equal spread between tabs #103058

Flush Space is the trick or go the other way: If you have only two words that should stick together > Nonbreaking Space (Fixed Width).

    Hi Brenda,

you can use “Justify all lines”.

in reply to: paragraf style numbers on the right #103054

    Delfim,

there are at least two possible ways:

    1. Anchor you numbering at front of the figure-para and the position will change automatically (depending on your settings in the anchoring dialog)

    2. Use 2 styles (one normal style with left numbering and a second “special” style with right numbering)

How to archive right numbering: Since some versions you can have some variations of placeholder text if you command click on Insert Placeholdertext. If you choose e.g. Hebrew, you can write with world ready composer applied from right to left and a Auto-num will be on the right.

So it is up to you, if you apply those right styles by hand or apply only the first style and a script could check, if the first style is on a right handed page and apply the second style automatically.

in reply to: Script for Export Stories on a Layer #102986

Why do you need a script for this? You can export all stories on a layer directly from the UI?!

in reply to: Help Me Convince My Editors to Use InCopy #102866

Hi Billy, well someone could write a book about that topic. If you you a lynda.com subscription, you could view the first videos of Chad Celius training title of InCopy. He discusses the pros and cons.

    Pros:
    – can only change text, no geometry > cannot create or move textframes
    – Both (the designer and the editor) can work at the same time in the same document
    – Better handling of controlling overflow
    – Better control for different texters with assignments

in reply to: Selecting all tables in a story/document at once? #102635

Andrew, it would be easier, if you spent a idml-example with highlighted cells to change.

I read your task twice and if I do not understand then, I quickly lost the desire for an answer ;-) Sometimes people confound cells with rows or what is the first and last cell in which row … ?

btw: I’m wondering about your styling. Why column tables instead of textframes?

in reply to: Side Frame Handles on Narrow Text Boxes #102591

    Hi Kim,

if you draw narrow textframes, the side handles are there as well, but: They are overlapped by the in- and outport for textthreading. So the trick is, to click (hold) and drag on the outport. If you click and don’t hold the mouse, you will get the place cursor or a new linked textframe. So this is a bit tricky ;-)

Notice also, that is a difference if you click, hold and drag immediatly or if you click, hold, wait a second and drag then …

    Colin, well written!

in reply to: Exporting (almost) every page as a separate PDF #102232

Nathan, as you pointed out, there are several scripts available, that deal with single pages. I’m not aware of a script, that deal with threaded frames.

in reply to: GREP: locate last tab in a paragraph #102229

Haha, Michel thanks. I tried this one and it won’t work in my case this morning. I assume, that I put the $ outside the parantheses.

in reply to: GREP: locate last tab in a paragraph #102227

Haha, thats true, cause in $0 everything is saved and insert again. Choose $1 instead of $0. Does it work?

in reply to: GREP: locate last tab in a paragraph #102225

    Try this one:

    Find what: ([^\r]+)$
    Change to: ~y$0

in reply to: Step & Repeat Script #102071

Then you need to store the value of app.documents.length and do what ever you do inside a for-loop.
