Thanks to everyone for your answers. There seems to be some disagreement, but generally I found Graham’s answer the most helpful and am going with that.
So, basically, text doesn’t HAVE to be vector, but 300dpi is just way too low.
And it is crazy supplying a business card as a JPEG instead of a PDF or postscript.
Chris: Sure. I don’t normally use silly names, but there are occasions when I may quickly name a layer “bald guy” or “fat woman”, or have a layer group called “Crap – unused”. Or quickly name a file “afeafe.psd”. Nothing particularly “unprofessional”, but it would be good to know if there’s a risk of anyone ever reading these.
I also wonder if a PDF could show some kind of history of a Photoshop image, or reveal what parts of the image have been altered, or show individual layers? With metadata I never quite know!
Thanks, David. Ctrl-click wiill get me out, then I can press v! :)
I checked the keyboard shortcuts and Escape hasn’t been mapped to anything else—it’s saying that Escape should work. Except it doesn’t. Must be something funny about my machine I guess.
