Not sure why you are having a problem.
The (s+) will find one or more s in a row and replace with what you place below so enter two underscores.
So when it finds s it will place one __
When two ss again it will place one __

    GREP
    Find
    (s+)|(ß)

    Replace
    __

Not sure what you mean or are after.
Can you give us an example of what you want
This (s+)|(ß) finds a single s or two ss in a row or the ß and changes it to what ever you want to to be. The s and ss are replaced by one _ for instance.

    this does
“s”, “ss” and the german character “ß”
    “_”, “_” and the german character “_”

You could try find s one or more times or the ß
then replace with what you want/

    (s+)|(ß)

If there is only one page then there is nothing to print on the back.
Just duplicate the page in InDesign then there will be two pages to print.

Use the InDesign book function, this will allow you to add the the documents in to one container, This will also allow you to standardise your Paragraph Styles and update them through all the documents.

To do this go to NEW > BOOK then add all the individual files.

    For letters use

    ([\u])—([\u])

    For numbers use

    (\d)—(\d)

Oops sorry, you need the Parenthesis outside then the Bracket to make it work.

    Find
    ([\u])—([\u])

But If the Em Dash has any text or numbers and you want to change them all you can use
    (\S)—(\S)

This will find an EM Dash that does not have a space either side of it
    Or even (.)—(.)

You need to use Parenthesis not Square Brackets to make the GREP a Marking Subexpression
    Use
    (\u)—(\u)

    Then replace with
    $1-$2

    That is strange.
The thing that comes to mind if the picture is set to NON PRINTING then you would need to click the INCLUDE NON-PRINTING OBJECTS in the PDF export dialogue box.
But this seems to be an unlikely cause.

Can you post some samples so we can see the problem you have?

Do the paragraphs in the two columns have different paragraph or character styles applied?
If so does one they have Align to Grid applied?
Does one of the columns have different leading applied? Even to one letter in the first line or more probably the return character at the end end of the line.
Any of these could affect the alignment.

D you have a hard return that has ended up at the top of the column?
Turn on the invisibles and see what shows. This will probably tell you the reason.

The first GREP work except for example
Only the 5.3 3 that you have in there does not work as there is no way pattern to this part. Is this an error in your example?

(Also my second expression was missing a closing parenthesis which stopped it working but you don’t need this one)

You are right if Alex wants to replace the spaces with Tabs then a few GREP or a script will be needed.
This sequence work for the example he posted, I also had it add two Tabs where there is no number in parentheses so the following numbers will line up.
I’m sure someone can simplify this.

    Find (\)||\d)()(\d)
    Replace $1$3

    Find ()(?)(\(|)(\d
    Replace $1$3$4

Sorry the space did not paste

Your sample has commas and full-stops so you would need to use
    Find
    ^(\d+(.|,))
