MemberHi,
I use InDesign CS3 on a Windows XP machine and this same problem happens to me. It doesn't seem to matter if I have any images or not. I notice most times it happens when I try to use Change/Replace command. Recently, it happened when I tried remove the “End of Column Break” character from my 8 page all text document and Indesign shutdown immediately.
What works best for me is to restart my machine launch InDesign and save the file with a new name. I take that new file and export an INX file. When I perform my Change/Replace it works fine.
Might this be a memory or disk storage problem? I just noticed that my hard drive has 1Gb of free space of 78Gb drive.

MemberHi,
I've done a bit more testing and this script is working great. Is there anyway to add “Fill Frame Proportionally” and change the frame box size to 0.75″ w X 1″ h?

MemberThanks Jongware, you were correct again. I often forget to double up on the backslashes when working with javascript. :( This script is working now. :)

MemberFYI, I have uploaded this script and replaced my folder string with '–replace this bit–'. It is available via my Public Dropbox link from the following weblink:
I would appreciate knowing what I am doing wrong.

MemberHi Jongware,
Yes, that is what I thought too. My file is located on a server with a path name assigned to X. For example, I used the following:
f[i].insertionPoints[0].place (File (X:\AM\CurrentWork\MN009213\GDESIGN_print\LAYOUT\Photos\+ name));
Does that look correct to you?

MemberHi Roland,
Thanks. Unfortunately, chaning line breaks in my excel spreadsheet to some other character would cause more overhead and cleanup than I can afford at this time. My current work around is to use the Mail Merge features of Microsoft Word and then import that into InDesign.
For the most part, this is working for me well. The problem I am currently experiencing has to do with removing empty Inline graphics. Hopefully, I'll have a solution to this little hiccup soon.
With much appreciation,
Greggamouning

MemberI did some searching through the InDesign Secret Archives and found the following solution to add back slash to a post by David Blatner:
To type a backslash, you can type:
& # 9 2 ; (with no spaces in between)Below is my post using the above method:
X:\AM\CurrentWork\MN009213\GDESIGN_print\LAYOUT\Photos

MemberHi,In my previous reply I noticed the slashes were dropped between the subdirectory names. I will try posting using the Paste with Word option instead:
X:AmCurrentworkMn009213Gdesign_printLayoutPhotos
Hopefully you will see the blackslashes. If not, please know there is a backslash prior to each capital letter.

MemberHi Roland,
Thanks for your reply. I understand being swamp. I really appreciate your help. I'm trying to get a proof to my client later this afternoon. This little hiccup is forcing me to attempt the data merge using different methods.
Kind regards,

MemberDear Collywolly,
Thank you for both replies. I may be able to use your first one for a different project in the future.
The second reply sounds like just what I need. However, it seems to be calling for the incorrect sub-directory(folder) that contain my images. Can you tell me what I need to change in the code so that it will look in the following server sub-directory:
X:AMCurrentWorkMN009213GDESIGN_printLAYOUTPhotos
With much appreciation,
Greggamouning
MemberBTW, I should let you know that I am using InDesign CS3 on a PC. If absolutely necessary, I can do this on a Mac with CS4 and/or CS5.
