    Thanks for a response, David.

You know what drives me crazy, is that when you go to relink your files you can do a search for a file name and show results BUT yet they can’t seem to do that for all the missing links. Doesn’t make sense. Oh well.

Is this an issue anyone else has encounter? Seems to be no takers on this one. Bummer.

CC defaults to “Display Performance > Typical”. Perhaps switching to “High Quality” might change things a bit. Just a thought.

I had a similar issue way back and after installing and deleting preferences the culprit wound up being the printer driver. We had an old HP color printer and then upgraded to a Canon Color copier with Fiery Rip and all of that application crashing when away. In my case it mostly happened with I tried to save a High Res. PDF with any sort of “marks”. Very strange and I don't know exactly what the issue was but after swiching to the new printer all was fine. I wish I knew the technical reasons but I was just SO happy that the issue went away.

I hope this helps and if not, would love to know if you solve this issue.

Unless there is a script for this, which I'm not aware of, you will have to just relink the images using the Links panel. Now, if you relink one image, and that folder contains other images used throughout the document, they will automatically update. ONLY if you completely break the original link by removing the original folder or moving it somewhere else. If you have images in different folders then unfortunately you'll have to update one image for each of those folders until everything updates.

If there is another way that I'm not aware of then I'd love to hear it.

Interesting. I'll have to give it a go, when I get a chance. Need to finish current project and then I'll play around and report back.

    Thanks for your help!!

I'm presently on Mac OSX (10.6.6) and I'm exporting to PDF out of InDesign.

I've tried a few test with different settings and it seems to happen when I have “use document bleed” checked on. If I have it check off then those particular spreads are fine. I'm not sure why having that checked On is causing those spreads to export in such a manner. Is this a bug?

    Thanks!

    UPDATE:

So here are my findings. I finally got it work using the PDF/X-1a:2001 – Acrobat 4. I was previously using no standard with Acrobat 5 compatibility and that seemed to be giving all sorts of problems.

Is Acrobat compatibility 5-9 a chronic issue for most people? Putting aside printer requirements, you would think that 5-9 would be the best choice for the best output. I'm referring to file structure oppose to print quality when speaking of output.

The bottom portion of my master page did contain two color boxes on top of each other, with the top box containing a feather gradient. I wish I could blame it all on that but the fact that it didn't give me issue on a previous spread is perplexing.

In any case, I generated a successful PDF with Marks & Bleeds. Today Was A Good Day.

The best route is what Bob mentioned, by using automatic page numbering. I'm not sure why you would want to have separate documents for each invoice. In fact, I'm not sure why you would even want to use InDesign for invoicing. It's not a practical use for your billing. For that I would use an application like “Billings” by Marketcircle. It's a way better solution for invoicing and keeping track of projects/clients.

    @Jongware:

Yes, they are real measurements BUT I'm getting that .466% from playing around with percentages after removing a stroke and resizing the object so it falls exactly where the outer part of the stroke originally was. The “object” in this case is irrelevant. It's about the stroke size not dimensions, even though (yes) you are increasing the dimensions but it's just to occupy the space left by the stroke. Again, it's an approximation and not a literal point to percentage ratio. It got me to what I needed.

Another work around would be Scale up your image. 1 point equals .466%. So if you have a 10pt. stroke and it's aligned to center then you would have to scale up your box 5pt. which equals 2.33%. If the stroke is aligned on the outside then you would do the full 10pt (4.66%). The other thing you need to be aware of is the boxes reference point, so when you scale up, it will scale to place. Again, it's not an ideal solution but it works.

If the box is a solid color then you can just make the stroke the same color BUT I doubt that's the case, so you basically can't. At least from what I know. If there is a way, I'd love to hear it. There is a way in Illustrator by outlining path but I haven't seen that feature in ID.

In the future, just make sure your strokes are set to “Align Inside”, then you won't have that issue.

    David,

Just checked out the video and it's a great script. I'll have to play around with it and see if I can get the results I need but it's a great start.

I haven't upgraded to CS5 yet, but would anything change from CS4 to CS5? Improvements or compatibility issues?

    Thanks!

That feature is extremely buggy. Doesn't work on 10.5 and up with CS4. I haven't tried it with CS5. Even trying to create a PDF file from a Booklet is not happening. At least on a couple of the 200+ page doc's I've created.
