  • in reply to: Export to Epub Breaks Endnote Links Strips Numbers #116954

Since InDesign is not able to provide an EPUB with endnotes and I doubt that Sigil will solve the problem I would like to know if you have a solution that is effective to get my e-book on Amazon Kindle direct publishing. When I did an export through InDesign as an interactive PDF file the e-book is perfect with all the links and the endnotes. I then tried to use Kindle Create under the textbook and cookbook section which accepts PDF files. The problem is the links cannot be edited and often go beyond the specific link to the surrounding words. I’m looking at various converters on the Internet and have tried conversion into docx format and other formats which were terrible. My e-book is a long complex outline created through InDesign with a large index and endnotes that adds up to around 276 pages at 6 x 9. I have looked at your training videos and completed your most recent training video series, “Epub: Indesign 2018” with a certificate. It seems almost impossible to get my e-book acceptable for Amazon Kindle and yet I have Amazon Kindle on my phone with the books I purchased that are long with lots of endnotes and look perfect but they are not in outline format. Please let me know what you believe is the best steps to take to solve this problem with the endnotes and links not being able to be edited in Kindle Create except if submitted as paragraphs of writing under the Novel Essay section rather than an outline which accepts pdf under the Textbook Cookbook section. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
