David BlatnerKeymasterPlease be clear about what attributes you want to copy. Are you talking text or cell formatting?
InDesign's eyedropper tool does work in tables, as far as I can tell. Select the text you want to apply formatting to (change), select the eyedropper tool, then click on the text you want to copy formatting from. For cell formatting (fill, etc.), select the cell(s) you want to change (press Esc to select the frame instead of the cell), then switch to eyedropper tool and click on the cell that has the formatting you want to copy.
David BlatnerKeymasterWho knows what lurks in the hearts of Adobe… Only the shadow knows! ;)
However, I think the idea is that the software package you own is the Suite. You see it as a bunch of individual programs, but Adobe sees it as a single program: The Suite. You don't own InDesign, you own the Suite. You could, perhaps sell your copy of CS4 and use that money to buy a copy of InDesign CS5, but then you wouldn't own the other programs anymore.
I think it's extremely unlikely that you can “appeal” this.
David BlatnerKeymasterHave you looked at indexbrutal and indexmatic? See https://creativepro.com/free
and I have a video on these at lynda.com in my top 10 scripts title: https://www.lynda.com/authors/D…..id-Blatner

David BlatnerKeymasterWell, JPEG files cannot have transparency. EPS could if you save it with a clipping path. If it is a pixel image (raster) then you could just make the background transparent (checkerboard pattern) in Photoshop, then save it as a PSD file, then import that into InDesign.

David BlatnerKeymasterOlaf, that's an interesting idea. I don't know of any way to determine the date when a style was last changed. Unfortunately, Blatner Tools doesn't do that. I hope you'll find the BT suite useful anyway, though.

David BlatnerKeymasterMaybe set the blending mode to Multiply in the Effects panel?
I guess it really depends on what kind of object, what kind of background, and so on.

David BlatnerKeymasterI don't know the answer to this, but if you read Hebrew, you might want to ask on Shlomit's forum: https://indesignme.co.il/
If it's tech support, you might want to contact the people at WinSoft?
David BlatnerKeymasterWired, The New Yorker, InDesign Magazine and about 98 other magazines have been using the beta version of the Adobe DPS tools. I'm not sure I agree with Fritz about not being able to teach the Overlay Creator. There are some (very short) tutorials available, including one done a while ago by Terry White: https://terrywhite.com/techblog…..hives/6321
Also Chris Converse did a nice one-hour webinar for Adobe on it mentioned on this blog post: https://blogs.adobe.com/indesig…..esign.html
However, I think what Fritz is pointing to is that the tools keep changing, so there is no “final” software to train on yet.
David BlatnerKeymaster@tantrictami: Good question, but unfortunately you can't go that way. EPUB is an export-only deal.
David BlatnerKeymasterI'd probably use auto numbering instead of page numbering:
David BlatnerKeymasterPerhaps try to select the cell itself (place text cursor inside text and then press Esc key) and then set the height (in the control panel) to Exactly instead of At Least.
David BlatnerKeymasterThank you, Mohamed. I'm glad to hear that my videos have been useful for you.
I think someone will be doing a DPS training video, but not me right now. One of the problems is that the technology is changing very quickly. Remember that the iPad 2 is coming, the Android devices are barely shipping, the iPad has not been out for a year yet, and all the Adobe software is BETA.
The best idea is for most publishers to go to sleep for 6-12 months and come back when standards and software are more finished. Anyone who jumps in now is a beta tester (what we call a guinea pig).
I hope you and your family are safe and well during this difficult time in your country.
David BlatnerKeymasterMohamed, it is not as easy as it seems. You currently need to join the Adobe beta program to download the files. You can find more information here:
https://labs.adobe.com/technolo…..ublishing/
When you download the overlay creator and bundler and all that you can also download the 45-page tutorial from Adobe's web site. It will teach how to do it.
David BlatnerKeymasterI am not sure where the text is coming from. However, I wonder if perhaps it would work to assign a character style to the text in the document and then use the IndexMatic script to create the index/table?
David BlatnerKeymasterIf every new frame you create has the wrong font and size, you should make a new paragraph style and select it while no text or objects are selected on the page. That sets it as the default. Make sure the character style panel is set to None while no objects are selected, so that's also always the default.
No, you cannot control where Place goes in InDesign. I suggest using a utility to control that. I use Default Folder on the Mac, for example.
