David BlatnerKeymasterWhich version of InDesign?
In CS5, you can turn on the Activate on Page Turn checkbox in the Media panel (I think that's what it's called).
David BlatnerKeymasterYup, if it's vector, InDesign will be able to handle it just fine.
You can use View > Display Performance > High Quality to preview how it will look.
David BlatnerKeymasterID's headers are pretty basic. If you want power, try Power Headers from in-tools.com.
David BlatnerKeymasterVersion? What OS? File > export or using Distiller?
What have you tried so far? Try different PDF Presets, for example.
David BlatnerKeymasterAs I said earlier, try rebuilding preferences. Also, you might try different PDF presets.

David BlatnerKeymasterOne of the questions is: Do you need a direct connection to a database? Or can you export the data from the database and then import that into a template in InDesign?
InData is terrific; it's not that hard to master. I haven't used the others, but have seen and heard good things about them.
David BlatnerKeymasterAh yes, until about 8 or 9 years ago a printer friend of mine ran a hot metal Linotype in his shop. It was just faster for him to knock out small letterpress jobs than it was to do it digitally. It was great fun to see, but after a lifetime of using it, I believe he had significant lead poisoning, which was sad. He has retired now.
My first lintotype was the Linotype 100 imagesetter. It was pretty exciting, trying to pin register color separations by visually lining up the paper between two markers as it came off the roll. (To date myself, one of my first summer jobs during college — in 1986 or 1987 — was working at LaserWrite in Palo Alto, California, one of the first service bureaus in the world. That's where I started learning PostScript, QuarkXPress, PixelPaint, etc.)
David BlatnerKeymasterA simple grep style like that should not be slowing down InDesign. I've never seen that. You have tried quitting InDesign and relaunching?
If it's mostly text, there should be no reason to break up the document into multiple docs in a book panel.
David BlatnerKeymasterInDesign wants you to use its own PostScript-writing features. In the Print dialog box, you can choose “PostScript File” from the Print pop-up menu at the top. The PPD will be “device independent.” That makes the “Print” button change to “Save”.
David BlatnerKeymasterThis article by Gene Gable about Letraset really brought back great memories.

The comments that people left are also precious.
David BlatnerKeymasterOh, that might not be a “real” form. InDesign cannot create real forms like that. I've seen the alert you mentioned, and I think it may be a bug in Acrobat. I don't know why it would insist there is a form there, when there is not.
David BlatnerKeymasterI'm not sure what you mean by “form document.” Do you mean you do not want the hyperlinks to function? If you use Export > PDF (Print) , then turn off Hyperlinks and Bookmarks, then it should be a normal (no hyperlinks) pdf.
David BlatnerKeymasterI suggest using auto numbering instead:
David BlatnerKeymasterOne idea: You could use the free LayoutZone add-on (automatication.com) to make a new document from the objects on a page. That, by default, would make a doc the size you want.
