David BlatnerKeymasterI strongly suggest learning how to use Quick Apply (search this site for various articles about it). That really helps speed up applying styles.
You can also use Blatner Tools (blatnertools.com) to assign any keyboard shortcut you want to 10 paragraph styles (plus 10 character styles, and 10 color swatches, layers, and more).

David BlatnerKeymasterI haven't looked at that for a while, but I believe you need to use a navto hyperlink:

David BlatnerKeymasterIs this for epub or dps or pdf or what? Also, what version of InDesign are you using? Hyperlnks to later chapters stopped working in CS5, but was fixed in CS5.5.
David BlatnerKeymasterWow, that is weird. I have never seen that happen. Seems more likely to be some kind of document corruption. But that does seem scary. Can you post a link to the adobe forum?
For years, I was a huge advocate of breaking up books into little chapters, but now I tend to think anything up to a few hundred pages might just be better off in a single document, unless there are a bazillion images that would make the file too “heavy” (file size). There's no particular threshold, though.

David BlatnerKeymasterThere are no “pages” in an epub. It's just one long flow that gets re-flowed depending on type size, etc. Are you sure that the whole story wasn't included?
David BlatnerKeymasterCari Jansen also tackled this problem last week in a blog post on our site:

David BlatnerKeymasterHard to say what's going on there, but here's one idea: Instead of editing the text in that tiny frame, select the frame and then choose Edit > Edit in Story Editor. You can edit text in the story editor window and just see how it changes in the little frame.

David BlatnerKeymasterYou can't do it with the auto numbering feature, but you can do it with regular numbering:
David BlatnerKeymasterI am pretty sure that it is only iBooks at this point. I think it basically ends up as a video tag.
I haven't tried an audio file. Can you use the Media panel to have it start playing on page turn? Or else you may need to touch/click it to start it.
David BlatnerKeymasterOh, wait… I misunderstood. You mean changing leading! Yes, the same answer, but the shortcut is option/alt-Up or Down Arrow (on the keyboard).
David BlatnerKeymasterThe best way to do this is to use the keyboard shortcuts. For example, select the text and press command-shift-. (period/dot). That will increase all text by 2 points. If you want it to change by a diferent value, you can change this in the Units & Increments pane of the Preferences dialog box.
Another option is to use Blatner Tools (blatnertools.com), which has a panel and keyboard shortcuts that let you change this (and other values, such as indents) much faster than using preferences.
David BlatnerKeymasterIn CS5.5, it's relatively straightforward (it's a setting in the export epub dbox, or in the Object Export Options dialog box). But in earlier versions? I can't recall. You may have to add a margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; to the css for the div that the image is in?
David BlatnerKeymasterIt's not you, Jordan. It's ADE (adobe digital editions)… in fact, most ebook readers ignore fonts some or all of the time. It's frustrating!

David BlatnerKeymasterThanks, Kasyan! Cool. Sorry… we are working on a new forum and site software, and one of the things we will definitely try to do is allow people to edit their own posts!
David BlatnerKeymasterWow. Well, one idea is to place each lineart page on an InDesign page, then place the halftone image over that, covering up the original. (Make sure the grayscale halftone image is in a frame with a fill of Paper, so it covers up the background image.)
