David BlatnerKeymasterYup, you want PEU: https://creativepro.com/pag…..or-cs3.php
David BlatnerKeymasterI would take a look at some of the database publishing apps out there, such as InData from emsoftware.com.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think ALL panels do that in InDesign, don't they? If you open a panel, it puts the focus there. What happens if you press Escape or Enter? Does it put the focus back on the page?
David BlatnerKeymasterThe only significant difference I can think of is that in 5.5 they added export style mapping. For example, you can specify that a AHead paragraph style be exported to H1, and so on.
David BlatnerKeymasterThere are some scripts listed here:
https://creativepro.com/create-a-list-of-linked-files.php
and
https://creativepro.com/get-a-list-of-images-in-your-document.php
I don't think these list the size of the frame. I believe FrameReporter can give you size:
https://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/indesign-downloads/framereporter/
but not as a list. Hm.
It shouldn't be difficult. If you have a budget, mention that here, and I'm sure you could lure a scripter into modifying one of the scripts for you.

David BlatnerKeymasterEither you are applying the master page to the left-hand page, too (for example, when you click on a page in the Pages panel, perhaps you're actually selecting both left and right pages of the spread), or the object in question is partially touching the right-hand page on the master page.
David BlatnerKeymasterAWESOME! Thank you, Theun. I hope to demo this at Macworld Expo tomorrow morning.
David BlatnerKeymasterAh ha! Of course. I thought that en dash looked strange.
This still doesn't work for me, but I think it is because I am using placed PSD or PDF files (not INDD files).
What I'm hoping for is a way to toggle the setting of a particular layer on/off in all PDF/INDD/PSD/AI files that I have placed. For example, I might place 20 graphics that have a layer called “French” and when I run the script, I would want that layer to be turned on or off in all the images. Easy change to this script?
David BlatnerKeymasterI had the same problem in CS5.5 Mac. I wonder if the forum messed up the code a little somewhere? Here's the error:

David BlatnerKeymasterI asked someone at Virginia Systems and they did not know why you would be having trouble getting through to their web site. But they did have an answer about indexing footnotes… he said, “the Professional version of our indexing product does that, not the regular version.”
David BlatnerKeymasterYou're drawing these in InDesign? Not Illustrator? Hm. Okay. What does it mean that they are not scalable? What happens?
January 20, 2012 at 7:10 am in reply to: How to store customized settings of Menu Customization dialog box (In CS5) to transfer to other computer? #61492
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Masoud,
Yes, these files are stored in a little xml file on your computer. On the mac, you can find them:
user/library/preferences/adobe indesign/version 7.5/en_US/Menu Sets
(of course the version and language may change)
I can't recall where they are on Windows, though I do remember it's harder to find. But search for Menu Sets and you should be able to find that folder. You should be able to move files there from one machine to another.
January 18, 2012 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Is there a Comprehensive chart that compares InDesign CS5/5.5 and QuarkXpress 9? #61483
David BlatnerKeymasterI'd like to see this, but I haven't seen a comparison chart for a long time. There is no doubt that QX has features that ID does not, but I know hardly anyone who uses QX anymore, and very few people feel the need to compare them.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat's pretty odd. But I particularly do not understand how this would affect index markers. The index markers should have nothing to do with Story Editor…?
And, just to be clear, are you talking about Story Editor inside InDesign? You're not using InCopy or something, right?
January 16, 2012 at 10:08 am in reply to: Anybody knows or guess when Adobe releases InDesign CS6? #61459
David BlatnerKeymasterIt IS a secret, and no one outside of Adobe knows. (In fact, it appears that plenty of people inside Adobe don't know, either.)
That said, Adobe has said that they are aiming for a 24-month cycle, with an annual update between. So CS5 came out in April 2010, and CS5.5 came out almost exactly one year later. Investors love to say that “past performance is no guarantee of future results,” but I think there's at least a fighting chance that we'll see CS6 before, say, summer.
A better question is, “what is going to be in CS6?!” That's easy to answer: super cool features! (But will they be the “right” super cool features?)
