David BlatnerKeymasterOther things I'd check: whether overprint preview is on; whether there is transparency on the spread; whether you've cleaned your glasses ;) ; whether you have RGB or CMYK transparency blend space selected… hm…
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can either use multiple individual tables and put them right next to each other, or you can select cells and merge or split them (using the merge and split features in the Table menu).
David BlatnerKeymasterBoazE is, I believe, correct! These are hyperlink destination characters. See page 4 of the special characters PDF that you mentioned:

I'm embarrassed to admit that I was fooled by a Safari bug. For some reason, attached images don't expand properly for me in in this forum when I click on them. So I was gauging your screen shots by squinting at the tiny thumbnails. Silly me. When I switched to Chrome, I could click to expand them.
You can make your own hyperlink destinations by clicking in text and choosing New Hyperlink Destination from the hyperlinks panel menu. Make a text anchor destination and you'll see that it shows up the same as this. Yes?

David BlatnerKeymasterThat sounds very frustrating. Two questions: have you tried exporting the file to IDML and reopening it? That might get rid of any kind of corruption lurking inside the file. If the problem still occurs, would you be willing to share the document privately with folks at adobe so that they can figure out what's happening?

David BlatnerKeymasterI think the answer to all your questions is yes. Many printers do print 4-color-plus spot. But you NEED to talk to your printer about mixing spot and process colors.
One of the most important lessons to learn: Don't ever pick a spot color on your computer screen. Only pick spot colors from a printed swatch book. (Your printer will have one, or you can buy one for a lot of money.)
Read this chapter from an old edition of one of my books:

It's about Photoshop, but it should give you some key information.
David BlatnerKeymasterMost PDF viewers cannot display the interactive features in PDF. I would strongly recomment they get the free Acrobat Reader software.

David BlatnerKeymasterYes, that is exactly what pantone spot color inks are for… bright, brash, specific color!
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, it does make one work the little gray cells! ;)
I honestly don't know what could be causing that. I choose to blame Word or the Word import filter, because it's convenient to blame those in mysteries like this.
David BlatnerKeymasterI don't know… very weird, certainly. Glad it's not upsetting you.
Here's a fun trick: Select one of the characters, then right-click and choose Load in Find from the context-menu. Does any unicode character show up in the Glyphs tab of the Find Change dialog box?
Clearly some kind of odd “control character” is sneaking in.
David BlatnerKeymasterSave the cover as a PDF, then place the pdf on the “2nd cover.” Position it properly, then Cut it, then select the smaller frame (the size of the pocket) and choose Edit > Paste Into. It should be cropped properly. Does that help?
However, ultimately, I agree with Tim that you need to check with the printer to make sure you have the right specs for printing on that pocket.
David BlatnerKeymasterGreater forces than you or me may be at work. Cosmic rays, perhaps. ;)
Sometimes “weirdness” creeps in to documents. Have you tried exporting to IDML and opening that? Maybe it'll go away. Or export that story to InDesign Tagged Text and reimport it…? Does it remain if you select all, copy, and paste into another frame? In other words, I'm wondering if it's something abnormal, rather than something you'd normally see in InDesign.
David BlatnerKeymasterI'm guessing it's just one of the endcaps in the Start or End pop-up menus in the Stroke panel…? Perhaps one got set while no objects were selected on the page, which makes it the default for future objects.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, this can be confusing. Michael Ninness explained some of the tricks and tricks here: https://creativepro.com/sca…..gn-cs3.php
The quick answer is that if you want the width to be exactly 62mm, then you should type 62mm into the X Scaling field (the one that normally says 100%) of the Control panel.

David BlatnerKeymasterDoes this help? https://creativepro.com/how…..-title.php
David BlatnerKeymasterInDesign is not a web page design tool. You could, in theory, do this as a Flash SWF out of InDesign, but I would not recommend it. You want HTM and javascript. I would suggest using Adobe Muse, which is Adobe's new web design tool for InDesign users.
