David BlatnerKeymasterDoes this blog post help?
https://creativepro.com/swap-two-items-on-your-indesign-page.php
David BlatnerKeymasterIs it possible that the text frame that contains the table has any transparency? I believe this is a bug in the current version, and Adobe is aware of it.
David BlatnerKeymasterGlad you got that worked out. Strange! Sometimes cross-references can be a problem across books. Other suggestions here:

David BlatnerKeymasterSeems like you should be able to do this by simply turning on the Optical Margin Alignment checkbox in the Story panel. When I do that, it both moves the bullets out into the margin a tiny bit and also aligns the lines to the right of the bullet.
David BlatnerKeymasterFor anyone who doesn’t recognize Colin’s name attached to the previous forum post, he’s the author of the feature article in InDesign Magazine issue 52, which focused on amazing tips and tricks that every Data Merge user needs to know.
David BlatnerKeymasterJust to be clear, it’s not OS8, but rather Mac OS X 10.8. (Mac OS 9 was from 1998 or so.)
Perhaps Adobe’s site is wrong. CS6 works fine with 10.8 (that’s what I use). I think CC works for 10.7 and 10.8. I’m sure that Adobe will make it work with 10.9, but I think it’s always worth waiting a month or two after Apple releases a big update like that before updating the Adobe apps. (It’s not like Apple goes out of its way to make sure Adobe apps work on their new operating systems, and sometimes I think Adobe doesn’t get the final OS until you and I do!)
David BlatnerKeymasterThere does appear to be a small number of people who find CC to be incredibly slow. Adobe is aware of it, but I’m not sure if they know what is causing it. Some people find that closing the Info panel speeds things up, but other people find that doesn’t help. But it does make me wonder if closing all the panels (hit Tab or Shift-Tab) would help.
For my part (and most people I talk with), CC is faster, not slower.
David BlatnerKeymaster@Ariel: Yes, as Justin points out, the font styling has to do with the paragraph styles… not the master page. The master page lets you control repeating items (where they are, etc.)
However, if you’re saying that you have some text on the master page (like a page number) and you change its font on the master page, then go to the document page and see that it is not changed… that usually means the object has become detached or overridden from the master page. (For example, if you command/ctrl-shift click on it on the document page. That overrides it, so that it can look different from the master page.) If that’s the problem, you will find that you can select the master page items on the document page. Once selected, you can choose Remove Local Override from the pages panel menu (it’s probably hidden in a submenu).
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s crazy, Steve. I can’t think of what would cause that. Maybe some third-party plug-in you have installed? I’ve never heard of placing a graphic changing the ruler measurements. Never.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou cannot change the stroke of a single side of a frame/box. You would have to use something else to make the top and bottom strokes. One idea is to use a table inside the frame, as you can set the stroke for each side of a table cell separately:

David BlatnerKeymasterThat is interesting that you’ve been able to reproduce. Is there a chance that some of the colors are spot colors?
Yes, PDF readers are one of the primary issues with PDFs. I talk about that in some detail in my new lynda.com title about Interactive PDFs.
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, that’s the number one problem with interactive PDFs: people not using Adobe Acrobat. If people use anything else, YMMV.
If it was Acrobat, then… um… seems like some kind of glitch, but an odd one.
David BlatnerKeymaster@Paul: Sorry you’re having trouble with this. It’s probably better to contact DTP Tools directly about their plug-ins. But in this case, I can tell you the problem: Blatner Tools has not yet been updated to work with InDesign CC! Their site says that it’s currently only working with CS4 to CS6. They are working on an update.
(All plug-ins have to be updated for each new version of InDesign, and it almost always takes a few months for them to be able to update them. Some simpler plug-ins can be updated faster. But Blatner Tools is actually something like 12 different plug-ins in a suite, so unfortunately it’s taking them longer.)
David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you export to “PDF (Print)” you need to turn on the Hyperlinks checkbox in the export pdf dialog box.
David BlatnerKeymasterAnother way to make a custom bullet, right inside InDesign, is with IndyFont: https://creativepro.com/creating-a-custom-bullet-or-character-with-indyfont.php
For others reading this, here’s the article he’s referring to: https://creativepro.com/insert-a-special-character-with-grep-styles.php
