David BlatnerKeymasterJust realized I forgot an important step in that blog post: Edit the cross-reference Format so that it doesn’t show the word “page”! Okay, I updated the blog post.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s a terrific list, though I don’t agree with all of them. (For example, why must images be 300 ppi or higher? Resolution depends on output specs, and 225 is often just fine for many print jobs. And how does deleting unused swatches help?)
The preflight feature (discussed in indesign mag 61) is very useful to check some of these.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes! Here you go, in article form:

David BlatnerKeymasterHi David, sorry about the hrefs… I think that 2 links should be okay, but sometimes it’s better to stick with one link at at time. Though the true underlying algorithm for why some forum posts get held for moderation is a mystery. Thanks for reposting this!
David BlatnerKeymasterIt’s very hard to know. How do you know they are inside text frames? Perhaps they’re just nested items? For example, if you select one of these frames, and choose Object > Select > Content, does something happen?
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure if this will help, but see the article and comments afterward here:

David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t know why it would not work for other cells if it works for one.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou make dot leaders for a tab inside a cell the same way you make dot leaders for any other text:
https://creativepro.com/tab-leaders-part-1-separating-columns-of-text-with-dots.phpIf you need to apply it with a cell style, you first make it in a paragraph style, and then define the cell style to apply that paragraph style.
David BlatnerKeymasterMartin: The only good way that I’ve seen is to use cross-references. I’ll try to write that up as a blog post asap.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou should almost never copy and paste a large amount of text from Word into InDesign — especially if you want to retain formatting or anything like this. Use File > Place instead. InDesign doesn’t do endnotes by itself, but if you search this site, you’ll find various solutions including scripts to do it.
David BlatnerKeymasterSorry for the weirdness, David G! Your February forum post (shown above) got stuck in the system and we were able to break it free and get it posted today. I emailed you off list about your other post today.
David BlatnerKeymasterWell you can use Liquid Layout, but I think Layout Adjustment is often easier. You can use one or the other (but not both). We talk a bit about it here https://creativepro.com/podcasts/podcast-185
David BlatnerKeymasterI think you’ll need to change that in Acrobat Pro. You’ll probably need to change it to send fdf data instead.

David BlatnerKeymasterThere is no way to paste or upload an image here, unfortunately, but you can upload the image to https://imageshack.com or some other sites that allow image uploading. If it is a script, you can usually put it here. Try putting
codetags around it.(I mean <code> and </code> tags)
You can type angle brackets here by typing “< ;” and “> ;” (but without the spaces before the semicolons)
David BlatnerKeymasterResizing pages is not always obvious. Read some about it here:
https://creativepro.com/resizing-document-pages.phpIf you have already changed the size, this might help:
