David BlatnerKeymasterYes, Leading is in the Control panel, or in the Character panel… under the type size.
If you’re going to be doing much in InDesign, I encourage you to check out my video training on Lynda.com or LinkedInLearning. Or get a book about it: https://creativepro.com/resources/books-and-videos
:-)
David BlatnerKeymasterKaila: No, leading is only set by percentage when you use “Auto” leading. In most cases, you should replace “Auto” with a specific measurement. If you type 5mm, it will convert it to points, but that is okay.
David BlatnerKeymasterMichel, no, you misunderstood my comment! I agree with you. I want scripters to get paid! :-)
Of course, if it were a script that takes you only 5 or 10 minutes, then maybe it would be nice to share with the community for free. Or, if it something that brings you other work or donations, then perhaps it would be something you can put on a web page.
But I want all InDesign users to think:
1.” I will look to see if there is some free or inexpensive solution already available.”
2.” If I cannot find anything, I will ask for a solution, and if I think it will save me 2 or more hours, I will offer to pay a reasonable fee!”However, do not be angry at people who spend many hours looking for free solutions. There will always be more people who have more time than money. But there will always be some people who have more money than time, and they are often willing to give you money to save themselves time.

David BlatnerKeymasterMy suggestion would be to recreate the document “from scratch”:
https://creativepro.com/import-folder-full-pictures-page.php
or
https://creativepro.com/quickly-place-images-indesign-document.php
or
https://creativepro.com/indesign-secrets-video-placing-folder-images.php
David BlatnerKeymasterWhat Obi-wan means is that you could hire a scripter to write a script to do this. If it saves you 2 or 3 hours of time, then it may be worth it!
David BlatnerKeymasterMat,
You should be able to add formatting by typing in HTML code, such asbold
You can add pictures by adding an html link to them.
However, I hear your point, and we will work on making the forum better in the future. That sounds like a very frustrating problem. I would suggest exporting the document as IDML and then opening it again (to clear up corruption issues). Maybe rebuild your InDesign Preferences.
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, Publish Online isn’t really set up for proofing very well.
There are some good suggestions in this thread:
David BlatnerKeymasterYou’re welcome!
Adobe has a wish-list feature on their site, or you can also wish for it here:
https://indesign.uservoice.com
David BlatnerKeymasterPublish Online is still a pretty new “feature” for Adobe, and there are many things we wish it could do better. I don’t think they have added a right-to-left document view yet.
David BlatnerKeymasterI agree with Ariel: the Book panel feature is great in some situations but I suggest using it only when necessary.
You can easily put each chapter in its own “story” in a single document. (A story can be multiple text frames threaded together across pages.) Then you can move those chapters around by selecting the pages in the Pages panel and dragging them to a new position. To do that more easily, you can make the Pages panel thumbnails bigger (use Panel Options in the panel menu) and you can even use color labels to identify different chapters.
https://creativepro.com/keep-your-pages-in-order-with-color-labels.phpThat said, you definitely could put each chapter in its own InDesign document and then combine the docs into a book panel. There’s lots more on this subject at Lynda.com/LinkedIn Learning.
Break a leg! :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterI know you can remove index markers with Find/Change, but I don’t think you can insert them…? I’m not sure.

David BlatnerKeymasterPeople: I need to step in here and ask that you please take your discussion elsewhere. This is not helpful to anyone on these forums.
Here are some rules I would ask you to please consider:
- If someone says they are not happy, you are a volunteer and it is not your responsibility to fix their problem. If they say they are not satisfied, they are describing themselves, not you.
- If you do not want to share a solution, please do not respond. If you have a solution that costs money, please be clear about that in your post.
- We do allow people to talk about their own commercial solutions here, but only on occasion. If you do it too much, we will remove your posts.
- Be polite and kind to each other.
Most importantly: The philosophy of our community is: TOGETHER WE THRIVE. In other words, no one of us can succeed in our work or business without the help of others. So we must work together and help each other.
However, we do not want anyone to feel that they are being taken advantage of.
So again: You do not need to participate here, but if you do, please be helpful and kind.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, you need to group the graphic frame and the text frame together, and then anchor the group into the text flow. (Groups act like a single object.)
David BlatnerKeymasterAre you grouping them and then anchoring the group in the text flow?
Have you watched Anne-Marie’s videos at Lynda.com or LinkedInLearning?

David BlatnerKeymasterWell, the horizontal cursor position is “read only” so you can’t use it. But in CC2017.1, the new UI has changed so that it’s very difficult to read. Annoying!
