David BlatnerKeymasterHave you rebuild/reset your preferences? I always recommend people rebuild their preferences after installing a new version.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think it’s very unlikely that you will be able to create a script in InDesign that will modify the built-in Buttons & Forms panel.
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m personally not a big fan of doing cross-document hyperlinks or x-refs, but it is possible.
The main help doc is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/cross-references.html
You just need to choose which document the target paragraph is in.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, character styles are really important, but they should be reserved for only things you need them for… like bold, italic, underlines… stuff where you apply it to a single word or phrase inside a paragraph.
And the big rule of the Character Styles panel is: Don’t double-click a character style to edit it! When you do that, you either apply it to whatever is currently selected, or — worse, if nothing is selected — you change your document default, so that style is applied to all text from then on. Bad! Much better to right-click on a character style and choose Edit from the context menu.

David BlatnerKeymasterID doesn’t have a way to link files to their original template.
You could perhaps use the book panel to do this, if you’re careful:

David BlatnerKeymasterGlad you found it… Yeah, those pesky character styles are SO often the problem.
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure what the problem could be… I just tried it using the Delete and Insert tools (in Acrobat DC), and also with the Replace tool. Worked in all situations. Hm.
The PDF was exported from CC 2019, right? This feature only works with PDFs that were exported from CC 2019.
David BlatnerKeymasterHave you tried: Rebuilding InDesign’s Preferences?
https://creativepro.com/rebuilding-indesign-preferences.phpLaunching the computer into a different user account (such as a Guest account) and trying from there?

David BlatnerKeymasterI wonder if it is a “permissions” problem.
Have you tried: Rebuilding InDesign’s Preferences? Restarting the computer? Launching the computer into a different user account (such as a Guest account) and trying from there?
David BlatnerKeymasterAre the images showing up as OK in the Links panel? If you right-click on one of the images in the Links panel, can you choose “Reveal in Finder” or “Reveal in Explorer” from the menu?
David BlatnerKeymasterAre you using CC 2019? Or and older version. There is some funky stuff happening in the new release of CC 2019 involving the font menu… it appears to specifically be a problem when the Control panel is open.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou’re welcome Tamzid! I’m glad that helped. Happy InDesign-ing!
David BlatnerKeymasterIs all the other data coming in okay (changing from voucher to voucher), but not the bar codes? Perhaps you don’t have the images set up correctly in the CSV file?
Steve talked about how to do images in this article:
https://creativepro.com/data-merging-part-2.phpI also went into a lot of detail in my video course:

David BlatnerKeymasterI would not expect Adobe to do a lot of work on improving the .doc import filters… it’s a very old format and is likely being deprecated by everyone (including Microsoft).
In general, my recommendation is to import .docx and only if it’s not working, then try .doc. (Some files do seem to work better as .doc, but I’ve never identified a pattern.) If that doesn’t work, then sometimes .RTF is the way to go.
That said, the problem is often that InDesign users rely on whatever the author or editor gives them, without doing clean-up in Word first. I highly recommend a workflow in which you clean up the file in Word, then do a Save As to ensure you have a clean Word file (with proper styles, etc.) before importing into InDesign.
David BlatnerKeymasterAdobe regularly drops support for old operating systems.
