David BlatnerKeymasterIs there any text wrap applied to any objects on the page? When you say it’s in the middle of the next column: is the Vertical Justification set to Center instead of Top in the Text Frame Options dialog box?

David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure these will help, but perhaps they’re a start:

David BlatnerKeymasterMaybe so… but actually now that I re-read your original post I realize that this is a synchronization problem. I must have been reading too fast earlier. Have you tried synchronizing without the master pages? Often when I synchronize across documents, I try to have as few checkboxes on as possible… if you’re only synching styles, then have everything else off.
David BlatnerKeymasterThere are all kinds of reasons why text may disappear. Here’s one option:

David BlatnerKeymasterThat sounds weird!
The Imgur link didn’t work… can you just give us the URL instead of a script? It’s possible that the frame is locked…? Or maybe it’s on a master page by accident? If you command-shift (or ctrl-shift) click on the frame, does it become active?

David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure, but my guess is that some left-hand pages are becoming right-hand pages, and vice versa… when that happens, InDesign has to reapply the master page.
That said, while this happens with regular text frames on master pages, it shouldn’t happen with the Primary Text Frames. Are you sure they’re set up correctly?

David BlatnerKeymasterArgh. I forgot about that… OK, I just updated that post with a link to a simpler script. (And in the meantime, we’ll see if we can find the full script to post.)

David BlatnerKeymasterYou’re welcome! I’m glad that was helpful.
Yeah, alternate layouts are very tricky for things like this. The new Adjust Layout feature can be really good at resizing/repositioning, but it’s not really built into alternate layouts.
David BlatnerKeymasterThank you, Marc! That is a great find.
We did write it up, but it was a long time ago, so it’s not surprising that it was hard to find:

David BlatnerKeymasterI’m sorry, but I do not understand. Can you give an example?

David BlatnerKeymasterJongware, this is GREAT! Thank you for jumping in on this. I just tried it, and I love it. I assigned Ctrl-Esc on the Mac.
@Marcos: Here’s how to install it:

and how to apply a shortcut:

David BlatnerKeymasterNope. Shift-Esc is “Select Content” but it doesn’t work with text frames (just groups or image frames).
Probably best bet would be to get a script (I bet it’s relatively simple) and then assign a shortcut to the script.
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure, but it may be just the way Acrobat works (or whatever PDF reader you’re using). InDesign can’t control every aspect of how an interactive PDF looks in the various readers, unfortunately.
