David BlatnerKeymasterSo you’re saying the same PSD file placed in InDesign 2019 made a much smaller INDD file? And a much smaller PDF file? That seems very odd. I have not seen any major differences like that.
David BlatnerKeymasterDoes this help: deselect everything, then choose Object > Fitting > Clear Frame Fitting Options. Then try placing an image again.
David BlatnerKeymaster“Incredibly perplexed” is a good description… this is really weird!
But I’m not entirely clear what you mean, because you said that the script is completely empty, but then you said you tried to open the script. Where are you trying to run the script from?
If the panel really is empty, this article might help:

David BlatnerKeymasterIs the hyperlink applied to text? Or is it an object? You could make it non-printing in the Attributes panel… or if it’s text, you could change the character style applied to the hyperlink before exporting for print.
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, I think that if they’re treated much like .AI files, then they’re probably fine. Interesting point though!
David BlatnerKeymasterWhat happens if you place a PDF or .AI file into InDesign and export to PDF… does that image appear as an object? I would expect SVG to act similar to a placed PDF.
David BlatnerKeymaster@Melise: I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to the names, and I thought Katherine’s file was referring to your problem. If you want to post a link here, I’ll look at it.
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, this does not work with copy and paste. When importing stories, I would strongly suggest using File > Place, not copy and paste!! From google docs, just Export the file as a .docx (word) document and then place that.
David BlatnerKeymasterSorry, our forum suddenly decided to start holding these for moderation… I cleared them.
David BlatnerKeymasterAh! I see… I didn’t understand there was a second story in there. Sorry. But yes, when I go back to page 1 and then load the place cursor with another story, and then shift-click on the first frame, it fills in the second story perfectly well.
See this article:
https://indesignsecrets.com/creating-two-or-more-automatic-text-flows.phpHere’s what it looks like after I shift-click:

David BlatnerKeymasterI meant shift-click on the frame with the loaded Place cursor. That will put the story into the frame.
Here’s what it looks like when I do it… this is the place cursor (with a story) on top of the frame:

and here it is after I shift-click:

I have View > Extras > Show Text Threads on, so I can see where the frames connect.
David BlatnerKeymasterOK, I see that you turned on Smart Text Reflow. You do NOT need to do this, but it is okay if you do. The problem is that you have 3 pages in this document, so if you use smart text reflow, it will fill page 1 and then start adding pages at the end of the document (which is after page 2 and 3). So you could do that, and then delete pages 2 and 3. Or you could just delete pages 2 and 3 and then import the text.
Or you could turn off smart text reflow, and then place the text and hold down option-shift (or alt-shift) when you click in the first frame. (That fills just the pages that are in the document.
Or you could turn off smart text reflow, and also delete pages 2 and 3, and then place the text and hold down the Shift key when clicking the first frame on page 1. That will place the whole text thread, adding as many pages as you need.
Does that help?

David BlatnerKeymasterHm! Very odd. If you want to paste a link to a download here, I’ll take a look at it.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou cannot group objects on different layers. When you group objects they all move to one layer.
