    Thanks Lindsey, I’ll play some more when it’s not a rush job. Ha.

    I’ve read that post before and honestly, it creates more problems than it solves. Maybe another day for ye olde anchored objects. Thanks for trying.

    I know what you mean – here’s the closest thing I know of:

    Window->Pages->View Pages->Horizontally
    Window->Pages->Panel Options->Pages Size: Jumbo

    in reply to: Em-dash, En-dash, hyphen, ellipsis #101613

    My 2¢:

    An Em-dash is a break in thought or a pause. An ellipsis represents words that are not shown, similar to etc. The spaces around hyphens and dashes seem to be style choices.

    It was one of those sunny days—the kind that can make you blind, delirious, mad…. (An ellipsis at the end of a sentence should have ending punctuation, so ellipsis+period looks like 4 periods)

    Make sure you’re changing Preferences with no documents open?

    in reply to: Importing Excel to Indesign #100257

    Also look at doing:
    Preferences->File Handling->Create Links When Placing Text and Spreadsheet Files

    Also, Preferences->Guides & Pasteboard->Pasteboard Options
    Make your horiz/vertical margins huge (like 10 inches, etc)

    This is how I print double-sided. https://i.imgur.com/toSD7kr.png (Your printer may show differently)
    Have you tried printing a PDF from Acrobat? Are you trying to print single sheets or a booklet?

    Check Preferences->General>Object Editing
    When Scaling:
    Include Stroke Weight: If it’s not checked, the strokes will maintain the same weight, so will seem bigger when scaled down.

    That’s my only guess! Otherwise, post a screenshot for us.

    in reply to: Help! Mysterious font – Can't override and change it #99588

    Your fonts may not be activated in Font Book (or do you use a type manager like Suitcase?) I just did Type->Find Font and replaced the missing fonts.

    If you want to edit Master Page items on a Page, you can either Command-Shift-Click on the item or Window->Page->Right Click, Override All Master Page Items.

    Otherwise, I don’t see any problems.

    Export to IDML? Type->Find Font? Are you trying to change the font in the Master or Overriding on a Page? Have you tried Find and Replace using Font or Font Size or Font Color?

    There’s so many things it could be. Can you upload your file to Dropbox and share the link?

    in reply to: Stop Importing Paragraph Styles from other Documents #99495

    If the old styles are of no use to you, import all your documents into a new file, then Delete Paragraph Styles. Load your new Paragraph Styles from your Template.

    If you have a lot of documents, using the Book feature is a possibility (using Find/Change or probably a GREP).

    Basically, it’s a name game. If it’s easier to temporarily change your Template Paragraph Styles, you can delete the old ones and replace with the new names.

    Re: How do I stop other paragraph styles from importing into my current document paragraph styles?

    I don’t know of a way to stop that with InDesign files. Before importing those files, you can change the Style names or Delete the Styles, Replace with No Styles (check Preserve Formatting).
