MemberSix and one half:
1. Create rhombus, step/repeat it (adjust with Align window). Select image, re-link in Link Window to new image (do not Place). Repeat.
or
2. Place several images. Select all with Selection tool, Shear (20°, etc). Select one, Direct Selection, Shear 0°. Select others with Direct Selection tool and Shift-Clicking. Object->Transform Again->Transform Sequence Again Individually.
If you go the Transform Again route, set up/use Keyboard Shortcuts.
My best guess, good luck.

MemberYou can import a PDF to Trim, if you don’t want crops and bleeds to appear.

MemberLooks like you have Facing Pages set up. Simply, if you don’t want this overlap, turn Facing Pages off. If Facing Pages is important to you, you have to manually adjust the frame so it ends at the center.
What is the final output of this file? If it’s a saddlestich/booklet, then there are no bleeds in the center (insides).

MemberSounds frustrating; I can only offer some suggestions:
1. Create a new folder on each Mac, at the User level or desktop for these fonts. Mac OS X has separate Libraries for the System and Users, so it could be in the wrong Library. (Delete the alias for the folder you made)
2. Consider a font management program. There are a lot of them in all price ranges; Extensis Fusion 6 is on the high end, but for 10 licenses, it may be in your budget. I work at a print shop, so I am loading and unloading fonts all day long, and it works.
3. You’re right, you would have chosen the TTF or OTF and InDesign wants the same version. You can replace with the other one if it’s available.
4. Clear your font cache:

MemberWith those quantities, it sounds like you need imposition software, which is a quicker way of getting 6 on a sheet than doing it in InDesign.
There are scripts/plugins out there of all prices and abilities.

MemberThere’s no such thing as too much empty space at the bottom. Design 101. My argument is that the reader needs a place to put their thumbs!

-You could have the transparent border in a separate cell in between items. Another crazy idea is to find a bitmapped gradient font, or make one yourself.
Good luck.

MemberJust align the text to the center of the cell and adjust the rule accordingly. It’s really hard to picture what you want without a screenshot.
I tried something else, which so far looks good:
1. Create a header row and a column before and after your Item/Price columns, then a Footer Row.
2. Fill the top row with color
3. Fill the left and right columns with color, except the Footer Row.
4. Create a rectangle the size of the left/right column cell, apply Color, then Effect->Directional Feather->Bottom .5 (or whatever works) copy, select Type Tool, paste into cell.Check it out – your top and bottom should be the same as the table flows to each frame/page.
IDML file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s0aocn4xelyfxbs/catalog-test-3.idml?dl=0A big thing with Tables in this case is to make sure cells have 0 inset, cell sizes are Exact (when you want them to be). The only cell that isn’t truly scalable is the one with the Directional Feather.
Good Luck!

MemberThis is not a solution, just a workaround. (If I understand your idea correctly) I created a table with no strokes. Applied Paragraph Rules (insets and baseline shift) to Item/Price Paragraph Style. Drew a Pathfinder/Subtract shape to simulate a border, applied Directional Feather Effect (pink color to transparent). So, it’s two separate pieces, but allows your table to flow page to page.
Not perfect, but hope it helps. https://i.imgur.com/peGIYED.png

MemberTables and cells are text-based objects. A paragraph rule requires a paragraph (you can just type a return). If you just want a line, draw a line, then copy and paste it into your cell. https://i.imgur.com/Wrtmhgg.png (Type->Show Hidden Characters)
