    I don’t know if this forum has a protocol, but setting up a DropBox account is common. https://www.dropbox.com/home

    This sounds specific to these .ai files; assuming the other person doesn’t have this problem with all .ai files too. Have you tried creating a new .ai file and importing it? I don’t think we can help you much unless you post one of the files.

    Hold the phone – I am not sure how to make my version work.

    Here’s someone with a similar issue (though I think theirs is on separate pages)

    If I were to do this job, I would have 2 separate text frames, one for Latin and one for English. If you need to separate them out, you can do that through Find/Change or by Convert to Table/Convert to Text.

    Good luck.

    Sounds like those lines have Paragraph Rules applied. Type->Show Hidden Characters. Window->Paragraph->Paragraph Rules.

    Uncheck Rule On (both Above and Below)

    Helen, it’s hard to say what’s going on, but you should try resetting your InDesign preferences or re-install. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990

    Good Luck

    Well, everyone’s world is different, eh?

    I work at a print shop with hundreds of clients, and it’s crucial that they bring packaged InDesign files in. So, what happens is this: We get the InDesign file and some links, but others are missing, and the customer doesn’t know where they are. So, I have to tell them the path to find their files (which are hopefully still there), etc. Lots of time wasted.

    While having your links in separate partitions and hard drives may work for you, the moment you move those files, your InDesign file is not going to know where it went, which involves wasting lots of time re-linking. Having all your elements in one folder is how InDesign works best, hence the Package function.

    Copy the EPS in Illustrator, paste into InDesign.

    I think you are playing with fire by storing on an external disk or separate volume. If you don’t want to copy the image multiple times, why not use a single folder on your hard drive, and use the external as backup?

    Disk space is cheap; time is expensive.

    Without knowing how large these original images are, I still have to say that Packaging is so convenient to have all elements together in one folder, and disk space is cheap, so Package and forgetaboutit.

    in reply to: Frames nudging frames #73250

    Oh, I didn’t understand. This sounds way too complicated for a resume. Why not create everything, then use Align->Distribute Spacing?

    in reply to: Frames nudging frames #73240

    Window->Text Wrap
    Undo the Lock, set wrap on bottom and left
    Wrap to: Both Right & Left Sides

    Window->Styles->Object Styles
    (while frame is selected)->Create New Style, select Object Style 1, rename add keyboard shortcut

    Change to CMYK in Swatches, not Color.

    Swatches->Add Unnamed Colors

    Select all the Swatches->Swatch Options->Color Type: Process, Color Mode: CMYK

    in reply to: Need help settling debate: spot vs. process #73218

    You are absolutely correct. (I have 10+ years offset printing experience.) The only thing that matters is the final output. If you’re printing process, use process colors. I recommend the Pantone Color Bridge swatch books. They have spot colors on the left, corresponding CMYK build on the right. If your client chooses a spot color such as Reflex Blue or 375 (bright green), they will be vastly disappointed, because these cannot be built using CMYK process. They’re special batches that Pantone created with reflective or white ink, etc.

    in reply to: Crop Marks effect page/document size #73175

    The default crop marks are .21 long, so your offset should be .04 to get a PDF that is .25 bigger on each size.

    That’s pretty close for most printers, but may work in your situation.

    Export->PDF->Marks and Bleeds->Marks->Offset

    When you place a PDF, choose Show Import Options.
    Options: Crop to: Trim
