MemberI think this is a great idea! I don’t know if you need them to be true page numbers, but it was easy to set one-to-one hundred on each page:

(found a list online, created master page and a paragraph style using Keep Options->Start Paragraph on next page, copy/paste into page 1 text frame, and voilà 100 pages are made.)

MemberDoes it work outside the book? (make a copy of your .indd file and try it)
What happens when you select Page 1, Page->Numbering & Section options -> Style? Are you choosing Roman numerals but it’s not changing?Colleen Shannon
MemberI assumed Gunn meant 1.058mm (.0417 inches)

MemberThat’s about the width of a 3-point stroke. What are you trying to do?

MemberFrom a commercial printing point of view, it does look like a cheap font problem, but I have one suggestion on your PDF export:
General->Standard->PDF/X-1a:2001
We find that x-1a solves a lot problems. Good luck.

Holy smokes, this just worked.
-Install PPD per Adobe’s instructions.
InDesign
-File->Print Booklet-In Print Settings:
-Printer: PostScript File
-PPD: Device IndependentPrint the .ps file
In Distiller:
-Default page size: 17×11
-Open .ps file, distillI got an imposed 17×11 file with this method. I’m around and can do screen shots if you need them.

MemberDavid, for me, (CC 2014, Distiller X, OS X 10.9.5) this only works when the final PDF is 8.5×11. I tried changing the page size in Distiller to 11×17, no luck. That’s why I’m thinking it’s a PPD issue.

MemberThis seems to be a long-time PPD issue between Apple and Adobe. Scroll to the bottom of the thread for the latest. Maybe they’re trying to keep good relations with third-party imposition plug-ins/software?

I will try it too. Otherwise, if it’s not a million pages, you can do it manually (I did this for years, using keyboard shortcuts for aligning).
Luck!

MemberThanks, A.A. I am not yet schooled in the ways of GREP.

Replace with ^p(I think that’s what you want?)

MemberCould be a formatting issue within the Word doc.
It could be a PostScript error. Have you tried printing the document or saving to PDF?
Some more troubleshooting you can try to isolate the problem:
-Save as a plain text file and import.
-Try importing 10 (for example) pages at a time, to a new InDesign document each time. If there’s a problem on page 34, etc. it will reveal itself.
-Try copying and pasting several pages at a time.
-Have someone with OS X try it. (I can try if you want)Good Luck,
