ParticipantA temporary fix was to search for text with command F, type in any existing word, and the tool highlights the text. Once in the text frame, you’ve got a blinking cursor, so text editing is possible. But that’s just for when you’re desperate to finish something without taking time to troubleshoot!

ParticipantThis is getting progressively worse. I have Indesign running on 2 computers and the grab bar gets stuck every so often.
I’m beginning to suspect that it has to do with Apple screen share. When screen sharing from mac #3 to mac #1, the grab bar will lock up, but all it needs is a couple of bangs on the space bar.
But after using screen share, (back on mac #1) the grab bar gets truly stuck, and I need to restart indesign, or restart my mac in order for it to get fixed.
I seldom screen share with mac #2, but I did so today. Now my mac #2 got stuck with the grab bar.
Restarting just caused Indesign to crash at startup.
I trashed preferences, which didn’t help.
I reinstalled the app and it’s workingHas anyone experienced anything like this?

ParticipantPlease explain what you did! I’m desperate for a solution to my issue, and it’s probably related.
Due to Covid 19, I needed to work on my home computer. I logged out of Adobe Cloud at work, logged in at home, and Indesign kept freezing up. Other Adobe products worked fine. I don’t recall what I did, but it began working fine after a day or two.
Now I’m back at my office and the same thing is happening!
I just quite Suitcase Fusion, and Indesign is still bouncing endlessly, trying to start up.Civi Bernath
ParticipantIt should be, but for some reason it’s not working.
I moved my custom workspace into [home]-library-preferences-Adobe Indesign-Version 14.0-en_IL-Workspaces
I also tried putting it into Applications-Indesign-Presets-Indesign_Workspaces.
After doing each of these, I restarted Indesign.Niels, did you manage it?

ParticipantHas anyone come up with a solution since the last time we “spoke”?
Problem occurred again. Grace, when it happens to me, and it just began again, it’s not random at all, and hitting space bar does not help.
I trashed my prefs which didn’t help.
Any suggestions out there?Civi Bernath
ParticipantThanks for replying.
Looks tantalizing, but I’m afraid it’s not worth the cost to save a couple hours of work. I am able to duplicate the last saved version of the file and use that. But it’s good to know for the future!Civi Bernath
ParticipantHi David. I worked on a file for 4 hours without saving (I kind of rely upon auto-save). InDesign crashed and then failed automatic recovery when I restarted it.
Are you saying you can still salvage my file?Civi Bernath
ParticipantThat link is outdated. It is now at

It doesn’t quite work for me, and it’s not automatic at all.Has anyone come up with a better solution?

ParticipantOk, I found the issue that never got answered.

I don’t know if it was overlooked or what, but any response will be much appreciated.
This has been going on for a few years now. Actually, ever since I discovered syncing books! -
