ParticipantThanks Ekwoman!
I will give it a try. It should save me a lot of time.

ParticipantI think I came up with a solution — I have replaced all the spaces following these words with a non-breaking space.
If someone has a better idea or can make me a script to do this that I can use when I have this client’s jobs, I will send virtual hugs your way.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantI was confused about what I pasted too. I did a “select all” and pasted yet it didn't look the same as what I pasted. I even tried it twice.
Anyway, as usual, your solution worked perfectly!
You have saved me hours as I have 183 reports with no less than four instances where I have to fix this.
(but don't tell my client about all that billable time you saved me, hee hee)

ParticipantHi guys,
I can figure out how to the FindChangeList.txt file to change text but not apply a paragraph style. :(
I am stuck on your above note “apply your Type style in the Change To field.”
I have tried every combination of change and/or apply I can think of.
text {find what:”Report Title: “ } {change to: “”} {include footnotes:true, include master pages:true, include hidden layers:true, whole word:false}
thanks for any insite.
I will keep trying…
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantAs always, you are my hero!

ParticipantJongware to the rescue again :)
I got this to work as needed. Thanks for making my work day go faster.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantLet's see…
When I run it from my Scripts Panel, nothing happens.
When I open it in ExtendScript using the Indesign pull down menu, it activates Indesign, appears to run then ExtendScript comes to the front and says “Result: undefined” in the JavaScript Console.
When I open it in ExtendScript leaving the ExtendScript Toolkit CS5 pull down menu, the first line is highlighted orange and it says “undifined is not an object” at the bottom.
Oh wait, I got your first script to work but not the following one that works with style groups.
Cindy Kelley
Participant:(
I keep getting a “Result: undefined” error
I saved the script using Extendscript Toolkit into my Indesign scripts panel.
What am I doing wrong?
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantYes, InDesign crashed each time I tried to:
Create a INX
Create a IDML
Selected the bad paragraph style
:(
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantI am unable to create either a IDML or INX :(
I gave up and recreated my document.
Thanks for the tips though. I love learning new things and maybe this info will come in handy in the future.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantGrrr. I delete all pages but one. Deleted all master pages but one. Deleted everything on the one page. Deleted all unused styles and was left with Normal and the other hateful one.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantOh, I gathered a report to so I could search and find the page that is using that style and it didn't show up.
I may have to toss in the towel so I can get something productive done.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantJongware always to the rescue :)
So far, no luck doing anything to the style. I even sent it to a friend to see if she could save it as INX but it crashed on her.
I did a “Find/Change” and tried to change the entire style. Crashed.
I did a “Find Font” and changed them all to a Helvetica and it still crashed so I don't think it's a font problem. I have deleted pages and saved the 100 book in 4 different files. So far, each is crashing.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantOh, I cleaned/cleared the sometimes-evil font cache too.
Cindy Kelley
ParticipantJongware to the rescue, as usual :)
but,
I used your Select Code button and pasted the text in AppleScript Editor but it wouldn't let me save due to a syntax error.
I pasted in Extendscript Tookkit.app and saved it to my Indesign CS5 scripts folder, restarted Indesign, created a new doc, they some spot color objects on it, ran the script and it worked.
Many many thanks.
