MemberIf I understand, you want the right size of the letters to overlap the left sides of the next letter throughout?

MemberDavid didn’t mention it, but there are File Handling preferences as to whether INDD a) checks for links and/or b) finds missing links before opening documents. Many users will never have a need to change the defaults.
However, I (and I assume others) spend a great deal of time swapping FPOs for high-res, and in order not to miss anything, I typically have FIND turned off. Finding low resolution images while the press is running is not a good thing….

MemberNo answer I’m afraid, just “thinking out loud.” I guess I have a query for the scripters. Would it be possible to modify the PEU script to meet Salieri’s needs? It already references page numbers, perhaps there’s a way to use the tag on each page?

MemberHi Adrienne,
When you print, is your Send Data All or Optimized Subsampling? Try switching the setting whatever it is.

MemberCheck your import options when you place the AI file and make sure transparent background is checked. I’m guessing your logo is all white or you would be seeing color elements in the white rectangle.
Another tip on white elements. If they “disappear” when exporting or printing, check the overprint options (Attributes panel in both AI and ID). They need to be off. Sometimes black elements with overprinting on are edited to white and the overprint setting is overlooked.

MemberThe ExtendScript Toolkit isn’t meant for unzipping files, it’s for scripting.
If you have an OS X Mac, just double-click on the file and it will decompress.
If you are on Windows, try 7-Zip: https://www.7zip.com/

MemberHello again Sean,
I may not be much help this time around because I have limited access to CC at the moment. From your screen capture I did notice that you’re receiving an AppleScript error, not JavaScript. Which one are you using?
I doubt it would make a difference, but you might try copying the imagecatalog.jsx file from CS6 if still available. I have a customized version of that script that I’ve been using since CS2. If I can borrow a co-worker’s Mac for a few minutes, I’ll see how it acts with CC. I’m going to need to know myself soon.

MemberRonni,
Great. I’m glad that will work for you. The links panel has quite the feature set so don’t ever dismiss it.
Bob Rubey
MemberYes. Quite easily. What you need is Live or Static Captions. Set up is found under the Object Panel or in the Links Panel. Look for Captions > Caption Setup. It’s reasonably easy to figure out. If you have any problems, I’m sure there are a number of posts on this site and others.
Good luck and have fun with it.

MemberHmmm, I would have guessed the other way around, but I think that applies more to laser printers than photo inkjets. As long as it worked it’s good.

MemberSalieri’s suggestion will work, but using Relink to Folder would be a better solution than the hide ‘n’ seek option: https://creativepro.com/relink-from-one-image-file-type-to-another.php
However, I believe Ronni is looking for something more akin to OPI or Scitex’s APR (Automatic Picture Replacement). Here’s what looks to be an old explanation: https://www.iptech.com/Home/News/Feature_Article/feature_article_-_why_we_still.html
I used Scitex APR “back in the day” but it hardly seems necessary nowadays as Salieri implies.
Ronni, I assume you must have quite a handful of images to make the query. I can’t say I’ve ever seen such a thing. My sense is that you need somehing like the Relink to Folder ability added to the PEU (Page Exporter Utility) script. I’m not a scripter, so I don’t even know if that’s possible.
Sorry, I know that’s not much help. Good luck.

MemberPrinting directly from InDesign? Are you sending data as All or Optimized Subsampling? If you’ve only tried one, switch to the other. You might also try printing from a PDF.
Bob Rubey
MemberTotal guess here (especially since you’ve already talked to IT). Was your network drive mapped on the old PC?

MemberFor the dimensions display, Preferencs > Interface > uncheck Show Transformation Values
I think the stutter problem can be addressed in the same panel under Options > Live Screen Drawing although I’m wondering if you have a video problem.
