ParticipantSomething I discovered. In the older document the Object Style for [None} has some kind of override in it. If I clear that it defaults to the same as the new document and the text frame changes (they become the same in both documents). Is there any way I can I determine what that override is?

ParticipantAside from the typo (Roboto) this worked perfectly for changing the font! Now to adapt it for the other fonts.
Where do I send the beer to?
You guys here rock!

ParticipantHello all,
I was looking for something else but ran across this nifty little script that appears to do what I was looking for a while back!
“SmartCellMerge.js is an InDesign script (CS4, CS5+) that automatically acts on the currently selected cells. By default it performs a row-by-row merge and inserts tabs between the joined elements.”

I haven't played with it yet but it looks very promising!
Enjoy!

ParticipantI figure it probably hadn't chnaged. I can't help it.

ParticipantOh yeah! I found your post and it worked GREAT!!
Thanks again Jongware!! You definitely rock!
I am a script dummy and really appreciate the help!

ParticipantYou know that almost worked – except that the cross references in the IDML file wanted to point back to the INDD file so guess what? CS5 crashes when trying to find the original file. ARGGH! I'll keep searching for an answer.

ParticipantThanks guys!
Both good ideas! Now I just have to explain what libraries and snippets are to these for poor folks!
Our stuff changes so much (technical literature) that I don't know if making a separate files will work. I may just have to tell them that if they open a file of ours to copy anything from they damn well better close it without saving it. Or they'll have to fix it!
But I thinkwhat I may do I'll have them make a list of what they usually need (it's always the same type data tables, etc.) and I'll make the snippets or library items for them. That way they stay clear of my documents!
Heck, they'll be happy when they discover that there's more than one undo!

ParticipantI work for a major HVAC manufacturer (technical publications/engineering documentation, etc. – lots of tables). My area of the department has been using ID exclusively for about 8-9 months now. I am working hard to get the other areas of this department (with a different manager) to make a leap of faith and come over to the ID side. We love it!
Unfortunately they are still using Quicksilver/Interleaf (horrors!). Some people just don't like change.

I seem to learn something every day that gets me more and more excited about ID! This forum will be a great place to learn even more!
Thanks!
