MemberThanks for taking the time out to respond Kenneth. I have been using ‘metrics’ to assess what the kern pair is normally for the letter in question and that has produced perfect results, it also gave me the idea that if I just had all those values for the letters i am using it would make life a whole lot easier as I intend to use Pete kahrels kerning script, if I just had the values i could just enter them into the script, job done.
As i am dealing with a lot of text, translations of entire books, I’m not keen on using optical kerning and I’m just trying to cut down my workload as the ‘metrics’ process is quite time consuming.
Thanks and best wishes

MemberThank you for your post Tom. Creating the new characters is not the problem, i have created them already with Indyfont. FontLab is way out of my budget and too much of a learning curve and what i don’t what to do is upset the ingenuity of the kerning in Adobe’s Garamond Premier Pro. I only have 5 letters to add to the set, i was just curious if there is anyway to have access to the kerning tables of those particular letters?

MemberOk thank you, I’ll check that out. I’m glad to hear all is well. Thanks and best wishes.

MemberOk, some more ingredients, i just tried it with a different letter and after creating the outline it didn’t move left at all, it stayed in the same x position, but it still shifted down, but this time thankfully not so much that i had to pull the box open.

MemberThank you Dwayne, the cut shoulder thing totally makes sense.
The outline is not getting bigger, because it is shifting downward, i have to make the frame bigger to find it.
At least half of the problem is solved!
Thanks agin for your assistance, much appreciated! I hope that all is well with you.

MemberThanks dwayne. When I think about it, I was sent a pdf and I must have converted it to word. But I am half way through the iD document now and only just noticed, so it would be counter productive to go back to the original.
But thanks again for your help, always appreciated.

MemberThank you David, I will try that. But do you have any links on how to go about that, or what greps are? I have seen it mentioned a lot but don’t really know what they are.
Thanks and best wishes

MemberOk David, so on reflection ‘based on Master pages’ might be a good option. I have realised that there is only element that has to change across the 30 master pages and i can do that easily afterwards.
Are there any articles or tutorials on this that you can recommend?
Thanks again

MemberThe ‘based on’ will be too laborious, but synchronize may well work! Great tip!
Thank you again David!
