ParticipantThanks for sending me in the right direction Claudio. Trashing that color preference under preferences/adobe/color worked for me! I see other people had to do extra steps, but I thought I would start with the easiest thing first and it worked. Thanks!

ParticipantThanks for the reply Colleen. I’ve been reading about data merging from a very informative old post. https://creativepro.com/automating-data-handling.php
Maybe I need to think about this as a variable data challenge since just four or less lines of copy would be changing each time. Much like a business card or the example in the link above..however at any given time the copy could be going on any one of five different size covers. At the very least, I would think that when I receive my copy in the spread sheet, possibly I would need one spread sheet for each size cover.Andrew Morgan
ParticipantThank you for a very quick response David. Sorry I missed that link before posting. Lots of good information in your supplied link

ParticipantThank you both. I have set up some files with some basic easy styles to test this book feature and it’s functions.
Then I will attempt my crazy price grids with all kinds different styles.Andrew Morgan
ParticipantThank You suzerp! That worked perfect. Once I read your email I also noticed all my sample scripts were in the applications folder, but my custom scripts were in my users/library/preferences folder. After moving them to the applications folder (like the sample scripts) everything worked! thank you…thank you..thank you…

ParticipantThank you both for your comments.
David – I think you are onto something! I just tested the sample scripts that come with ID do in fact work. I never tested those. (sadly I don’t use those ones much)
So the ones that won’t work are custom. For example unlock all, reposition content, Quotes to Foot and Inches, batch convert to name a few. I just remembered there are versions of these scripts saved on the server in question, but I can’t imagine that would cause issues. This is from InDesign CC, but I also have the same problem from 5.5.I’ll take the stored scripts off the server. I will also take them all out of ID and re-install to test one at a time.
maggs – The files I’ve been testing have been created from InDesign that is on my mac and are files that have not been to the server yet. There aren’t any apps on the server, just a storage place for jobs and common links we all use in our ID files.
Again…this might not be a true script topic…but thanks for you help.

ParticipantThanks for the quick reply David. What will be changing in the first two lines would be the font and size of the copy. If I’m working with a table of 4 rows 4 in InDesign, sometimes I need the first row of my table to be 12pt Times Italic and sometimes I need the same 1st row in my table to be 14 pt Helvetica Medium…all this of
course being merged from the same column in a spread sheet. I guess I’m try to apply two styles to one table cell at differnt times… which pretty much seems impossible so I was thinking I would have to apply styles manually.Aslo, thanks for the links to extracting. I will be checking that out…
