Hi Anne-Marie,
I wasn’t making cross-references, but hyperlink destinations and then programming buttons to “go to destination” in other documents all in the book and open while I was programming. I wasn’t able to replicate that one time I got it to work. Instead of programming a button to go to a destination, I’ve made my “button” icon an object hyperlink to the destination, and it seems to be working more consistently now. Now I only have one hyperlink/button that won’t go to its hyperlink destination.
Thanks for the hints as to what to check!
Hi Again,
I started with a simple document and tried several options, finally finding that making hyperlink destinations as text anchors seemed to work where bookmarks and other types of hyperlink destinations did not. I was able to replicate the working buttons in a more complex layout, but when I try to apply it again, I’m back to the external anchor not found error. I’m not sure if this hints to what I’m doing wrong, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Any solution to this issue? I just updated to CC 10.2.0.69 build, and I’m getting the same error. I’m not working from a TOC. I’ve made a simple layout trying to have a button go to a page in another indesign file, but when I go to export I get the error:
“External Anchor not found: External Anchor ‘Page1’ at ‘/XXX/Desktop/test/doc1.indd’ is missing”
The epub generated from the .indb includes both files, but at export it can’t seem to see the anchors. I can generate a functioning TOC, but I can’t get these buttons to work. I can’t figure out what I’m missing.
