MemberNevermind…I tested again, and now it retains the override. Strange.
Missy
MemberThank you!

MemberLet me modify the scenario to better explain. Let’s say only Model A has an automatic shut off feature. But both models have replacement parts. The Automatic Shutoff and the sentence below it are tagged with Model A. All occurrences of “color” are tagged US. All occurrences of “colour” are tagged UK.
Automatic Shut Off
The button will glow a red colorcolour when pushed.Replacement Parts
Be sure to include your colorcolour choice when ordering. When I hide Model A and US I get this:
colourReplacement Parts
Be sure to include your colour choice when ordering. How do I hide the first “colour”?

MemberThe only way I can see that I can accomplish this is if I first search for REZERO SERVO and add a hair space to the text, then do the above GREP. Seems like you just can’t do it without a space of some sort?
Missy
Member*Correction* If I enter a space after the Find what: (?<=REZERO SERVO) it will work, but will add that space.
Missy
MemberDavid,
I thought of that, but then I get this:

Now there is too much room between multiple level 2 entries. ??

The image “TOC good” is what I’d like to see. The image “TOC Not good” is what I get from IDCS6.Missy
MemberWell, my spacing in the example didn’t come across. Is there a way to post a picture?
Missy
MemberTice,
There are two possibilities that I can think of.
First, is what Jake said. Did you set up the TOC Style to use a different style than “Section Header?” Set up separate, dedicated paragraph styles for the TOC that will display when you place it. For example “TOC Section Header.” Then set up your TOC style to include the “Section Header” and apply the “TOC Section Header” paragraph style. ID will grab the content of Section Header and display it according to the TOC Section Header paragraph style. (Be sure NOT to base this style on the Section Header para style unless you change the keep options in the TOC Section Header para style.)
If you do have separate TOC para styles set up and applied correctly, it could be that the separate TOC paragraph style is “based on” the Section Header paragraph style and is pulling in its keep options.

MemberEither way, FM cannot compete with ID's features.
…depending on what you are producing. FrameMaker dominates ID when it comes to long document features such as xrefs and variables.
Keep in mind that Adobe owns both ID and FM and are in the business of selling software…to anyone…for any reason. Producing XML is going to become more necessary for both.

February 14, 2013 at 6:41 am in reply to: Best way to get "Article X.X on next page" on the bottom of each page? #64155Missy
MemberGert,
Thanks for your post.
Unfortunately, running headers won't look forward a page to get their source. The only choices for variables are for the page in which they appear. Since I want to announce the article that appears on the next page, this won't work. (Don't get me going on ID's lack of variable offerings.)

MemberThank you so much Jongware.
Wonder when Adobe will put in the case feature. It seems like a no-brainer.
Ah, Adobe.
Thanks again!
