I have an art book that has about 70 images of varying sizes. There is no text except after the requisite copyright info, dedication and preface. I want to center images left and right, top and bottom as one goes through the book, whether on an iPad, Kindle, iPhone, et al. I have put the pages in order with the Articles panel, all the page breaks are working, but some of the images align to the top of their pages if they are not very tall.

I’m trying to figure out via CSS how to have the images center dead-on no matter what device. I have played with individual margin settings for certain images to adjust their positions, but I think there’s a more elegant way to do it with CSS. Besides, I am afraid large margin settings may cause images to show improperly on smaller devices.

I’ve looked high and low, googled, viewed videos, read specifications and my brain is glazing over. Is this possible to do in a flowing ePub?

      Thanks for any help here.

        Hi Marty,

I am not sure if I am understanding your problem correctly or not but what I understand is you wish to center successive images. Are you using custom layout settings in Object Export Options for image alignment? You can select the image and set align left/right/center
in Object Export Options dialog. Please let me know if I am not understanding your problem correctly or a snapshot of the expected result can also help.

        Thanks,
        Pooja

      Hi Pooja,

Thanks for your help. I’m trying to automatically center each image above and below as you turn the page. Each piece of art is on an individual page. Is there something I can put in the CSS for this?

So, for example, on a 10 inch tall screen (like an iPad), if an artwork is 6 inches tall, there might be 2 inches above and 2 inches below it. On the next page the artwork is 4 inches tall and there might be 3 inches above and 3 inches below it. It would work proportionately on any smaller screen device.

Let me know if you need further explanation. (I tend to over explain things :-)

      Thanks again,
      Marty
