Can I make it so my default new document is 1 spread, NO shuffling?

Right now when I make a new document, I must manually select all pages,
disable “Allow Document Pages to Shuffle”, then drag the pages to be side-by-side,
which is how I prefer to work (makes alignment much easier, requires less scrolling).

Even after making a keyboard shortcut for the shuffle option, I still find it tedious
to do this little multi-step process for every new document.

Does anyone know of a way to make my desired layout the default when I make a new document?

PS: offtopic, but if any mods are listening… for the small text on this forum page, can we get a font with better hinting?
I don’t want to sound like a font snob, it’s just tough to read and a lil ugly for an otherwise very clean and pleasant site.
Check out the 4’s and the poster names here. Tough on the eyes.
